ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I'v been recording music for years with the talented and gifted musicians, singers and song writers from southeast Texas. But seldom made the music available to the public.Only my family and I along with close friends have enjoyed this music and appreciated the messages and now I would like to share the songs with the world.
Over the years I have been fortunate and blessed to have played with and recorded with many great musicians from my area. They encouraged and inspired me.People like Jerry LaCroix,Ted Dunbar and in Austin,Tx ,Rusty Wier. Zachary Breaux is one of the most notable. He was a international recording artist and most of all,a close friend.Whenever he was home [Port Arthur,Texas] he would come by my house. If I was working on a recording at the time, I'd stick a guitar in his hands and get him to add guitar tracks.I probably have the only recordings on the planet with him playing gospel.Back in the days,we played this little club for two years and would pack the place. We grew a lot as musicians during that time. Many great musicians and singers would come and sit in from time to time.Ted Dunbar would come by during the holiday seasons,He was famous among Jazz musicians.Ted and Wes Montgomery were close friends and Zack grew up next door to Ted .Many pop musicians knew Ted too.During this period I met Robert Pannell,a young border line genius musician from New Jersey.I would later learn that he was also a great writer and arranger and we would become like brothers along with Derwin [Koolaid] Daniels. When Zack left the group to go back on the road with Roy Ayers, the three of us became known as The Power Trio aka P-3.We released a contemporary jazz recording titled Power in the House. We shopped the tracks to record companies and I personally handed a copy to Miles Davis, but nothing became of it.Clive Davis responded by saying he didn't hear any hits.Besides we were all too busy trying to survive in those days to pursue it any further. We did one more recording,an all acoustic recording Live at The Julie Rogers Theater. but the recording was never released.Shortly after those events Derwin[our drummer] migrated to Atlanta,Ga and would eventually do a 3 year stint with the Ohio Players[as a saxophonist] he could play anything on the bandstand. Robert's life somehow changed shortly after that.He was no longer comfortable playing the clubs that were sometimes our only source of income. He started talking about being saved and having been fill with the HOLY GHOST.God used him to get my attention.Like Moses and the burning bush this was un-explainable.Robert was and still is a highly intelligent person, one not giving to emotional trends or whatever.Something happen to him.He changed.Well that's typical when anyone comes in contact with Jesus. And so it was with me.But shortly after I relocated to Austin,Texas and found myself playing and recording with some of Austin's top musicians.Legendary jazz pianist James Polk, drummers Pat Mastelotto of King Crimson, Brennan Temple and Mike Hale,Trumpeter Ephraim Owens and a gifted young guitarist named Jason King. all the time I was making recordings, not fully realizing that I was on one level documenting my life and experiences as a musician. This will be the first of a series of recordings that I will release during the 2017 year. All of my recorded musical history. The R&B,The Rock & Jazz which all eventually lead to The Way We Praise.
