ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"We strive to make music that will make you feel something, take you to a new space to get lost in your thoughts." - Walter & the Night Owls

Walter and the Night Owls are a Somerville, MA-based alternative-folk music quartet that have been making waves in the indie Boston music scene for the past year. Combining acoustic guitar, violin, and cello with delicate vocal harmonies they've manage to create a sound all their own while echoing inspiration from songwriters like Josh Rouse, Jeff Tweedy, and Ray Lamontagne. Composed of three music educators (Masami, Afton, and Kristy) and a classical guitarist (Walter Rodriguez), Walter and the Night Owls was formed when a last minute gig sparked a musical kinship. With jam sessions lasting late into the night, their songs exude a sense of melancholy and longing that take the listener on a unique musical journey. Having opened for other bands like Tristen, Jaymay, and Jamie Kent as well as playing folk festivals around the Northeast, the band is set to release their debut full length album "Living in all directions". Their music has been featured in commercials, films ( i.e "Shades of Ray" starring Zachary Levi - NBC) and has been licensed for use on MTV2 network specials. Reviews:

IAMA International Acoustic Music Awards:
"Hailing from Boston, Walter & the Night Owls have the "wow" factor that keeps the listener wanting more. Smooth vocals and delicate string arrangements makes their songwriting artistry shine with musical surprises."
- IAMA RATING: ***** (5 out of 5 Stars)

"Walter & the Night Owls songs look at relationships with a refreshing honesty and vulnerability."
- Eric Kilburn - Wellspring Sound

"Walter Rodriguez is that rare combination of a musician who is equally adept at writing, singing, and playing. Being a skilled classically-trained guitarist is impressive enough on its own; the fact that Walter's also an undeniably gifted songwriter and a sublime vocalist puts him in a category well above most other performers out there. He's an old-fashioned triple-threat and the real deal."
- Kimon Kirk, The Meds/Session Americana
