ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A keyboardist/producer/vocalist, Dexter Wansel was a major force in the explosion of the Philadelphia sound during the '70s and '80s. he formed his first groups with Stanley Clarke during high school. Wansel signed a solo deal with Philadelphia International Records in 1976 and the company issued his debut LP "Life on Mars". The title cut was a favorite on the fusion circuit. Wansel recorded other LPs in the same style during the late '70s. He is recognized for his impact as a writer, producer, conductor and arranger. He worked closely with M.F.S.B and their 1980 release "Mysteries of the World". As a writer and/ or producer, Wansel has worked with recording legends, such as Patti Labelle, Stevie Wonder, The Jacksons, Teddy Pendergrass, Billy Paul. Lou Rawls, The Stylistics, Jean Carne, Jerry Butler, and the late Phyllis Hyman and Grover Washington Jr. His music has influenced and been used by more recent artists like Jay-Z, The Lox, Jamiroquai, Incognito, Junior, Loose Ends and many others.

The concept of the CD is based on mid-tempo grooves and melodic music with some vocals.

very much like Dexter, inspiring and powerful.
Very well done, creative with keyboard work as only Dexter Wansel can play it. Dark Matter is my favorite track with its dark overtones and hypnotic type melody. A quality package and a treat for those of us who have followed Dexter's career.

12 tracks on disc. All top drawer productions. Has not been out of the cd player since it's arrival. A fine addition to an awesome back catalogue. Mr Wansel , it's time for another offering.

Apple Martini, anyone?
I've listened to this CD over and over since its arrival and there isn't a weak cut to be found. It was hard to pick a favorite because every track is just that awesome. From beginning to end, Mr. Wansel has graciously given us some of the smoothest cuts this side of Montreux! The smooth jazz stations really need to pick up on this one!

Smooth, Jazzy R&B from A True Master & Icon
Us big tyme Dexter Wansel fans have had to wait quite a while for new product from him. But this is very much worth that wait. An ecelctic mix of instrumentals and a few vocals (none by Dexter, though), 'Digital Groove World' is somewhat different and much edgier than "Universe", this disk grows on you on repeat listenings. I love it. Great for late night kick back moods, Dexter has wrapped it all up in a nice and unique package. I applaud the effort and glad to see my man is back and STILL inventive!
