Album Notes
This CD was recorded in 2001 by The "Original" Waterband Line-Up that has recently reformed. This CD was never officially released until now... Over the years we have had many requests to release this... so now here it is the way it was meant to be released...

Waterband was founded by David "Dreadlock Dave" McDougald, inspired by a higher calling and deep desire to send sincere positive vibrations into the universe through both expressive musical improvisation and thoughtful musical and lyrical composition. Waterband's form is ever changing, yet ever flowing... Waterband's sonic depth and changing forms allow them to perform as a dynamic acoustic ensemble or as a full-blown electric aural assault! Waterband has performed nearly 1000 shows, since forming in 2001, and has released four CD's to critical acclaim. On Tour Now... Bring Your Light, Boogie Shoes & A Smile To Share... Have A GRoOvy Day! Peace & Blessings...*Waterband*

Seriously, you cannot listen to this album and have a bad day at the same time. It's impossible. For You is a love song for the ages. If this song had been out when I got married, it would have been the song we danced to at our wedding. It would be our official song. Then there are the fun songs like Hippie Bus, the cosmic tribute called My Family, the movin' and groovin' songs like Redwood, and the mellow jams like So High. I don't give 5 stars lightly. I can always find something to criticize. You know how you sit around listening to the classic rock of the 60’s and 70’s for the 30,000th time and you still enjoy it thoroughly and you end up asking yourself “Why don’t they make music like that anymore?” I always wondered why the quality of music back then seemed to have eternal staying power, not just this flash in the pan stuff that gets released so much these days. Well if you are looking for that band, the one that is new but you can still see yourself listening to it in 40 years and asking yourself “Why don’t they make music like this anymore?” then look no further. Waterband is that band. Imagine the influences and styles of everyone great, from Pink Floyd to Led Zeppelin, to the Grateful Dead, to Frank Zappa, to The Rolling Stones, to The Who, to whoever… Now imagine that talent, that musical staying power, that total feeling of I AM ABOUT TO JAM OUT!!! and picture it all rolled up into one new band that just seems to GET IT. That is Waterband. The only thing I do not like about them is that I cannot get all of their music on cd yet! Some of the songs they play in concert are fantastic but not available yet. Get back in the studio guys. I need more! This is the kind of band that makes me wish I was a millionaire so I could start a record company and sign them. They need to be heard by the world.

Local Beat CD Spotlight - The Cleveland Plain Dealer
One hates to stereotype, but when a CD arrives on your desk reeking of patchouli, odds are the material will fall under the jam-band label and not too far from Jerry Garcia's tree.
This is overwhelmingly the case with Mantua-based Waterband's latest effort, "From The Source", which was recorded in 2001 by the band's original lineup.
Now that the initial members are back together, the 20-track album finally sees the light of day.
While the material doesn't sound dated - in so much as the outfit is aping serious Grateful Dead vibes with it's track "My Family" and a dozen others - it does tend to run together more than you'd wish. Still there's solid guitar work to be found on "Pause For The Cause", with other notable tracks including the country blues "God's Parking Lot" and the upbeat "Hippie Bus". Having coined its own sound "Folkedelickfunkpop", Waterband has itself a potent Nelson Ledges soundtrack that should appeal to patchouli lovers everywhere.
