Album Notes
Much in the mold of the classic guitar trio records " Bright Size Life" and "Gateway " of Pat Metheny and John Abercrombie "The Beatnik Walk" is an exciting journey through the of compositions of Wayne Brasel in a trio setting together with drummer Peter Erskine ( Weather Report , Steps Ahead, ) and bassist John Pattitucci ( Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter). And even though it was recorded in L.A. at Chick Coreas famous studio, "Madhatter" and engineered by Chick's engineer, Bernie Kirsh, the record still has a very european "ECM" feel to it. The variety of grooves and harmonic textures really inspire these three world class jazz musicians stretch out and interact with each other and in doing so create some very exciting music.
