ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
“Stavanger Songs” is primarily the result of the meeting of a Californian jazz guitarist and a group of Norwegian jazz musicians from Stavanger, Norway. The music that was made as these musicians played together is a celebration of improvisation and the melting together of two musical aesthetics. At times it’s a soul from the warmer lands searching out the quiet and melancholy of the northern spaces and at other times it’s the soul of a mountain jazz improviser exploring the sun and carefree spaces of the southern beaches and islands. This blending of the two cultural landscapes creates a unique musical sound. Call it the sound of maybe a melancholy deserted southern beach or perhaps a sunny northern mountaintop. It’s a beautiful combination and fits just right with the guitarist’s lyrical and melodic compositional style. We hope you enjoy it!
