Album Notes
America is a nation of individuals free to express themselves and voice their opinions. The late 50's and early 60's was the beginning of young America starting their personal record collections, which continues on today. Referred to as "my music," each individual, not realizing, has kept a diary of themselves in the form of music - how they laughed, cried, fell in love, good and bad times, all related to the words and music in their songs. This was all made possible by the creators of their music....The Songwriters.

Wayne Carson is probably represented in every popular music collection in the world. Recently voted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame is testimony by his peers that he truly deserved to be placed in the KING ROW among all past and present creators of song.

His music started in the 60's and continues on today. Asked why he started writing songs, his answer was basically the same as most great writers, he had the need to express himself to all that would listen. The same has always been for poets, artists, architects, scientists, astronauts. They feel a need to do these things. Good or bad, the money has never been one of the reasons.

Wayne Carson has devoted a large part of himself to helping other songwriters who show the desire, potential, (talent) to create music and gives seminars at colleges on songwriting and plans to increase this area of his time. As he explains, the world will never stop searching for a new way to say I LOVE YOU.

Wayne is a great entertainer and musician as you would expect...drums, piano, guitar, bass, a studio engineer, and producer. His recreation is golf, fishing, and helping others. He has no enemies.

Now we enter the facts of his achievements and the only area that Wayne becomes modest about. He has composed 20 number one records, 5 platinum albums and a couple hundred album pieces. He also has 2 Grammys and in doing all of this he has truly become a spokesman for all people.

There are "music makers" and then there are "Makers Of Music". Composer - Songwriter Wayne Carson, has proven himself to be one of that rare breed known as a "Maker of Music". His songs have sold in excess of 75 million records and have been recorded by a list of artists that read like a Who's Who of the recording industry. Wayne has written such American classics as "The Letter" and "Always On My Mind". Equally at home with rock-n-roll, country, or rhythm and blues, his music has successfully crossed all boundaries throughout the world.

On his solo album entitled "Writer" - Wayne Carson shows the listener how the songwriter heard these classic songs originally. Long before the rest of the world would have a chance to call these songs their own - they were his. And he caresses each song with the tender touch of a lover who knows the feeling before the touch. It is hard to differentiate between the singer and the song - for they are one and the same. Whether you call it rock, Memphis R&B, or country - it is music in it's purest form. This is what it's all about.

Following are a list of Wayne Carson's songs that have been recorded by other artists through the years...

Upon hearing this CD, I felt like it was 1985, I was Marty McFly in BACK TO THE FUTURE and Wayne was Professor Emmett Brown concocting all kinds of adventures with no specific destination. If you love the Nashville sound circa 1985, then you'll soak this up like a biscuit. Hey Grandpa, what's for supper? Yum, Yum!

Arkansas Red-Ozark Troubadour

Wayne is the ultimate songwriter. I have four favorite song writers and Wayne is two of them. Have played many a demo session and worked the road with Wayne. One fabulous entertainer and person. He deserves everything he gets. He's been there.

Dave Pease

His work is always first class!
I've played bass and recorded with Wayne since the sixties and he is a major talent, honest and a hell of an acoustic guitar picker. Just don't let him get drunk and sit in on "Annie had a baby"!

Lloyd Haymon

The man's life is a song...
I love this CD, Simple and awesome at the same time, a true classic, I can't imagine anyone not liking anything about this CD.

Brenda Libby-Saxton (from Nama's house)

You gotta love a lover!
When music energy flows from a songwriter friend, you listen. You smile, because you are enjoying, once again, "The Grapes from Mary's Vinyard"! Always unbelievable and with class.

The Guitar Man

Good Songs and Good singing.
Really Good singer with good songs to sing. The Band is very good. You will love this CD.

Kris Lenz

Love it-been playing it all the time!
Honestly, I bought it to be nice because Wayne is a (distant) cousin, but I'm REALLY impressed, and have been playing it a lot! Great songs, great lyrics, great music. Not necessarily my usual style but somehow "universal" in appeal. Do another!

Karen Bailey Yates

Loved every song, Wayne's personality comes through in each song.
Each song makes you feel he's written it for you as you will connect with songs that pertain to your own life or experience's in one way or another. Some songs will make you cry and some you'll laugh. There's not a bad song on the CD. My cd player has been on repeat since I received it 5 days ago. Superb!!!

The Man with a song
I've known Wayne Carson for over forty years. He is my brother in music. Once, in the early 70's we were having dinner in the Galt Ocean Mile Hotel Ballroom on Fort Lauderdale Beach. Suddenly, a familiar song began to play and Wayne rose to his feet with reverence and saluted. The song was "THE LETTER". Then he grinned and said,"I have to do it. That song has made a lot of money."
