Wayne Naus has had an amazing musical career. As a trumpet player he has toured and recorded with some of the all time greats such as Buddy Rich, Maynard Ferguson, Lionel Hampton and Arturo Sandoval. Most recently, he has performed the National Anthem (solo trumpet) for the world champion Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park in Boston. He is currently a Professor at Berklee College of Music where he teaches Jazz theory and composition. In 2000 he created the Berklee Tower of Power Ensemble, which he conducts and is now one on Berklee's most popular ensembles. In 1998 his book titled "Beyond Functional Harmony" was published by Advance Music and is used in his composition elective at Berklee titled, "The Music of The Yellowjackets".
In the 1990's he formed his 7 piece Latin jazz group, Heart and Fire. The group has performed numerous concerts in the New England area and had the opportunity to tour Russia for two weeks. Upon returning the United States, the group recorded the album "Chase The Fire". Two of the band members have gone on to perform with major artists. The bass player Oscar Stegnaro now performs with Paquito D'Rivera and piano player Helio Alves performed with the late Joe Henderson. The album is a collection of originals and standards set in a Latin Jazz Fusion style.
