Album Notes
Shelter Me brought together local songwriters and musicians on original songs, many in collaboration with currently or formerly homeless musicians. All proceeds from the sales of this CD will go to Friendship Shelter of Laguna Beach, which provides emergency shelter, three meals daily, and a wide range of counseling and support services to 30 homeless adult men and women for up to 60 days—at no charge. To date, more than 5,000 adults have been the recipients of the Shelter’s services.

When we launched this project, we assumed only a few artists would be willing to participate, but instead, the opposite proved true. Most everyone wanted to help. They had stories to share, and I soon realized that musicians with heartfelt knowledge of this subject would make this benefit CD a stunning reality.

Shelter Me has truly become a compilation by and for the homeless. Musicians who participated include Shayne Fair, who co-produced Bill Medley’s latest CD Damn Near Righteous; Dave Nachmanoff, who’s been back out touring with Al Stewart (Year of the Cat); Shawn Jones, who last year performed for the U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan; and many others.
