Album Notes
When I need to reconnect to myself, I leave the city and head up to my retreat escape on Tomales Bay where I listen to the rhythms of the birds, connect with the deer, and play the piano. The daily pressures of life melt away and I become an open channel to receive the gift of musical creation. A Beatle-esque melody came to me during my last visit and as I was thinking about the upcoming wedding anniversary of my brother and sister-in-law, it seemed a perfect match. The words came in the middle of the night, so I scribbled them out on a piece of newspaper. As a pianist and composer but not a singer, when I returned to San Francisco I began my search. I placed an announcement on Indie Collaborative – a worldwide group of 2000+ independent artists – where co-founder and amazing musician Grant Maloy Smith said ‘yes’; to my delight he also threw in some great guitar licks. I then reached out to talented violinist Michele Walther to provide some counter-melodies and she also said ‘yes’. It’s all about saying ‘yes’!
