ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Wendy Zoffer is a flutist extraordinaire. Her clear lilting tone and fluid style are a breath of fresh air to the listener. Classically trained, Wendy has crossed over to the world of jazz, blues and popular standards. She expresses her enthusiasm and love of music whether she plays pop, standards, Broadway, Brazilian, or jazz. Wendy shapes classic melodies with exquisite feeling extracting the full melodic potential of her material-"it sounds as if she is singing through her flute."

The upbeat melodies on this CD will excite anyone who appreciates a finely crafted tune.

"I've known Wendy Zoffer for several years and every time I hear her play the flute she sounds better and better. This CD especially impressed me. Her tone and choice of material is excellent! Wendy can improvise without lossing the message of the song. The jazz trio does a great job accompanying Wendy throughout and the recording sound is as good as any I've heard. This is a CD to be proud of."

world renowned saxophonist

The accompanying musicians lend their virtuosity and outstanding musical skills to each number:

Pianist Jacey Langford adds her warmth and upswing style to the music. From England, she was the featured pianist/singer on the QE2 and Delta Queen cruise ships. Jacey performs with varioius television and cabaret entertainers and big bands. Currently, she is featured at Amici Milano Restaurant in Trenton, NJ and with Wendy at the Princeton Hyatt Regency Hotel.

John Bianculli, jamming on some heated grooves, performs jazz piano regularly at the New Brunswick Hyatt Regency and the New York Hilton. He has worked with Steve Nelson, Jeanie Bryson, Cassandra Wilson, Terence Blanchard, Regina Belle and Earl May to name just a few artists and at venues such as the Blue Note, the Rainbow Room and Blues Alley in New York and Washington D.C.

Brian Glassman's creative bass lines come through in the opening measures of "Wave" and "Sunday Kind of Love." He has performed with renowned artists such as Lionel Hampton, John & Bucky Pizzarelli, Paquito Di Rivera, Dick Hyman, James Moody, Gary Burton, Benny Carter, Benny Golson, Dr. Billy Taylor, Neshama Carlebach, Sahib Shahab, and David Grisman. Brian currently performs in NYC with songstress Margaret Whiting and with the Ken Peplowski Quartet.

Dave Mohn has had a varied musical career working with jazz performers and bands such as Dennis DiBlasio, Richie Cole, Charles Fambrough, Steve Varner, Daryl Hall, Unguided Missle, Maggie Hill Band, Stiff Stuff and Otay, Otay. He has recorded with Bittersweet, George Duke and Larry Coryell and Sesame Street shows. Currently, he performs with The Stone Cold Blues Band and Psalm Drummers.

Finally, Bob Harris' recording expertise, Mike Perry's excellence in graphic design, Barry Korbman's photography, and all the musicians' energy and enthusiasm helped produce this quality CD.

Bird of Beauty
What a delightful CD! Wendy Zoffer has put together an appealing mix of music from different genres and styles including Broadway, pop, and Latin in a compilation that provides listening pleasure each time it‘s played. The melodies are familiar, but the treatments are fresh and varied, and the mix of musical styles and tempos keeps the listener attentive and smiling. My particular favorites are the title track and “Wave”, with “One Note Samba” a close third. Wendy’s clear flute combined with the fine playing of the accompanying trio make this a CD well worth owning.

Modern Jazz In A Relaxing Mood
Wendy Zoffer does a great job. She is playing in a light pleasant way. The titles contain nice themes and sort of romantic touch is everywhere, but still there is a driving force in every song. The accompaning musicians are assisting her lively.

An engaging and tastefully-rendered project!
Jazz flutist Wendy Zoffer and her expert accompanists chose some of my favorite jazz standards for this project. These include Autumn Leaves, Black Orpheus, One Note Samba and Wave. She also demonstrates her proficiency playing tunes from Jerome Kern and Stevie Wonder. She plays with lyrical spirit, adding some improvised interpretive twists along the way. Her accompanists are first-rate. The sound on this album is also very nicely crisp and clean. Well done to Wendy Zoffer who has released an engaging and tastefully-rendered project!
