ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Well overdue but hopefully worth the wait!

If Ten Popular Melodies was the Sunday morning comedown then this aimed to be the soundtrack to the night before. The majority of this album has been our live set for the past few years and after many false starts it was an incredibly easy and enjoyable record to do. This time produced by Jim Thompson, ‘Make Your Own World’ is probably the album I’ve always wanted to make. ‘We can never go back’ was the track that got the ball rolling then gradually we choose tracks to suit the feel.

The lifelong obsession with Big Star and The Velvet Underground is proudly displayed along with a bigger guitar sound using the 12 string 335. Although there was a big gap between albums, this was a quicker album to make because the tracks were well rehearsed from live shows. There are a few overlaps in sound from the first album but the mood is up. This is very much the sound of Wheels.

The undeniable influences were:
Velvet Underground – Loaded
Dinosaur Jr – Where you been?
The Replacements – Let it be
Jonathan Richman – I, Jonathan
Todd Rundgren – Something/Anything
Big Star – Radio City
Aerosmith – Rocks
White Denim – Workout Holiday
Tom Petty – Damn the Torpedos
Rodriguez – Coming from Reality
