ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A song stylist whose work spans the spectrum from rock to blues to country, Wendy Matson began her solo career in 1997, after 15 years with a variety of commercial rock, blues, and country groups touring in the US, Hawaii, Guam, Japan, and Korea. Victory Review reviewed her solo CD, City Music - Country Song, saying, "Matson's vocals are sweetly lilting and very pleasing, her guitar playing excellent." Boise Weekly called the CD "a welcome sound in an otherwise acoustic desert."

Matson began her career in 1975 performing folk solo and as a duo in South Dakota and Idaho. She has played lead electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and bass and provided her winsome vocal styling to three- four-, and five-piece country variety dance bands such as Side Saddle, Calamity Jane, and Company Three; she toured with Fast Forward in the Midwest, West, and Plains states during the 1980s.

In June 2004 Wendy received a grant from the Idaho Commission on the Arts to showcase her work at the Arts Northwest Conference in Bellevue, WA in October 2004.

In May 2006 Wendy was the recipient of a grant from the Idaho Commission on the Arts to attend the Americana Song Academy held at Camp Caldera near Sisters, OR September 5-8, 2006.

Wendy is a tireless performer who, in addition to concert performances, works at nursing homes and the Veterans Administration hospital in Idaho's Treasure Valley, providing therapeutic music.
