Claim This Land

by Who I Am

Claim: A claiming of something as one’s rightful due. You may claim your car as your rightful means of transportation. If you play guitar, you may claim your favorite guitar as the rightful means by which you make great music. When we Claim This Land, we are stating that “this land” has been rightfully set apart for a particular purpose. In the song, Claim This Land, KEN HOLT is lyrically stating that the purpose of “this land,” is to provide “a place where children grow up” to their full potential, “a place where children laugh” and play freely without fear of violence, and “a place where children learn to love” those of every skin color, ethnicity, and identity. Claim This Land.

Album Notes
Whatever you're exposed to in life eventually comes back around. That goes for music too. Blending rock, alternative country with a sprinkling of pop, KEN HOLT, recording as Who I Am, adds a positive vibe to any playlist. The first SINGLE, Claim This Land, presents a Lennonesque-Pete Seeger "we can make a difference" promise.

Ken, songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist for WHO I AM, has played in bands since High School, through College, and beyond. With highly successful regional New England band, The Blend, Ken toured “from Maine to Miami”, recorded 2 albums with M.C.A., and opened for The Who and other major acts. He has stood on the stage alone with an acoustic guitar while over 1,000 sang one his songs. He has felt the energy as 5 friends pounded out Rock N Roll, while the crowd sweated and called for “one more.”

Ken loves the name for this project, Who I Am. Why, because it allows him to be completely honest and authentic with his music. The album, Who I Am…With You, to be released February 15th, 2017, has a little Tom Petty storytelling, Pete Seeger Americana challenge, and Bruce Springsteen “you and me against the machine” sentiment, AND, what you gotta have…some cruisin’ down the highway music.

Claim This Land, which begs the question, “What is the purpose of This Land?” Let the song speak.
