ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Wicket: A Parody Musical is a new “wok” musical that delights nerds and surprises casual fans of the galaxy far, far away. It’s a classic underdog comedy, but it’s also a pointed parody that calls George Lucas to task for his sins, and in it’s galactic workshop premiere, it charmed sold-out crowds night, after night, after night.

The premise is familiar—just as Wicked tells the untold stories of the witches of Oz, Wicket tells the untold stories of the Ewoks of Endor from the 1986 film “Return of the Jedi.” We all thought they were a random race of alien teddy bears that just happened to live in the tree next door to the sequel Death Star. Turns out they are actually the master plan of the evil director of the galaxy. (Yes, of course we mean the Emperor… George Lucas.)

Wicket watches the girl of his dreams, Princess Kneesaa, climbing out of his league and into the arms of beloved medicine man Logray. Then, surprisingly, a second Princess rolls into his life. You might know her as Princess Leia. We soon learn that after a lifetime of tragedy and impossible expectations, Princess Leia has developed a secret shadow-personality: heavy metal diva Princess SLEIA!

We also meet the mysterious Ensign—the low-ranking Imperial Officer who happens to be the only woman of color in the entire Empire. Though she’s one of the most keen and capable officers in the Emperor’s service, she’s underutilized and overlooked; too black for the Dark Side.

Her research reveals the Emperor’s master plan: to sell his engineered Ewoks as toys throughout the galaxy, she unwittingly becomes part of the Emperor’s master plan.

Just when it looks like things are looking up for Wicket, all hell breaks loose! Princess Kneesaa is kidnapped, the village is under attack, and suddenly little Wicket finds himself as the galaxy’s last hope to defeat the tyrant who rules the galaxy. Who knew?!?

Spoiler alert: some of our favorite characters die, and some crazy catchy songs are sung along the way to our happy ending. The lesson learned? The things you create aren’t yours forever; your creations take on lives of its own, create new bonds, and make new connections. It’s not just yours. It’s ours!
