ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The wild beautiful orchestra (WBO) is a performing group with flexible membership which gives high-quality concerts and outreach events of diverse and exciting repertoire, from compositional premieres to arrangements of world music and popular music. We seek to collaborate with dance companies, youth musicians, world-music soloists, rock bands, theater companies, and other types of artists. We represent the changing face of classical musicians today, with a spirit of openness and a wider embrace than ever before.
Our core membership is 11 players, representing the standard orchestral instruments. We can add up to 9 additional players for specific projects. Most of our performers are students and alumni from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver, but we are an independent organization. Our executive team is backed by a five-member board of young professional musicians.
Projects in development for the 2019-20 season include:
• Recordings and live performances with local bands
• Creating new pieces and giving live performances with dance companies
• Multidisciplinary events linking music and visual arts
• Outreach programs with middle-school and high-school musicians
• Debut performances and recordings of compositions by local composers
• Live performances as an orchestra-for-hire with community choruses and soloists
