Album Notes
NOW a new package jewel case 4 panel insert has replaced the slim eco pak .asof july 2019!!)
This album is all about the headbanging music that made wild dogs happen in 1982 some politically charged tunes and radio friendly songs that show the mature songwriting of Matt McCourt. sticking to the short and sweet format this set could be placed in several different styles but one thing is for certain it is all metal infused rock n roll in the tradition of AC/DC or perhaps even venturing in to the southern rock category. good blues based lead work throughout.. if you like it hot fast and hard this one is for you and the powerful "Pain Before you die" is full on metal thrashing mad the cover sports the first original wild dogs logo drawn up by local Portland artist Blaine Hess a high school friend of Matt's and the cartoon drawn by Mark Berryman was part of a large picture that graced the walls of For What It's Worth Records and tapes a well known hangout and the cool place to get your hard to find imports until it closed it's brick and mortar location several years ago.
McCourt refuses to give up and continues writing songs and recording to add to his catalog he ha been quoted as saying" when i die i wish to leave a large body of work behind not just a large body" one of the best perks of listing albums at cdbaby is the direct contact with the people who like the music.. the production on this is above and beyond previous efforts. and if you don;t know Matt's story he does Everything himself including stuffing the jewel cases . sometimes adding a surprise free gift to a limited number of cds.
The other musicians on this record are good friend and longtime bandmate Drummer Dave Hathaway who joined his Tribute to Motorhead called Ace Of Spades and morphed into a new version of wild dogs ( Dave also can be heard on the comedy music cd "Mattison Avenoo's Greatest hits vol 2 " also available here.. ( Mattison and MCourt bear a strong resemblance music wise ( nudge nudge) also on guitar on the pain before you die track is Vido Sinn the Ace of Spades Guitar man and also leader of the death metal band SINN whose rune of odin lp is highly sought by metal collctors .. on 3 tracks Bryce Van Patten plays drums Matt recorded 16 full length albms with bryce during a very prolific period 2001- 2007 and can be also heard on the church of el duce cds available here. Matt McCourt plays lead guitar bass drums on those days are gone and is the singer .

The Dog snarls more now
Mr.Mcourts voice sounds absolutely nothing like it used to.His vocals used to remind me of Nadir D 'Priest from the band London..I must say that I don't see that as as bad thing at all.His voice now resembles Lemmy or Merrill from the SST records band Overkill LA.This is a solid pretty kickin' record. The only thing questionable is the continued use of the Wild Dogs moniker as this is a totally different beast.
