Album Notes
I started a trio with Drummer Pete Laufman and Guitarist Michael Brown in 1998 our first gig was playing live on my cable access show I ran into both of them at a mutual friend's gig i was Shooting for my cable access show this group rehearsed 3 times per week I never had such a pair of dedicated loyal dependable band mates who put everything into it. These recordings from Portland's famous Roseland Theatre, the former home of the group in 1982- 1986 when it was known as Starry Night.
The music in this set was recorded while opening for legendary touring bands on 3 separate dates live and raw no overdubs it is the sound track to the video off camera 1 i always had a camera crew to shoot for my cable access show this venue was like a 2nd home if i wasn't shooting bands in the barricade i was producing Portland Professional Wrestling for Warner Bros Television.
This is the same group that recorded the King of the World Cd guitarist Michael Brown is spot on with the unique guitar styling of Jeff Mark and Drummer Pete Laufman who wrote out all of Deen Castronovo's riffs for each song pieces of paper with his cryptic shorthand taped them to all his cymbal stands
we played with some great bands Dio, Dokken,Great White, Blue Oyster Cult, Thor, the group;s first gig was palying an end of tour party for Bonnie Raiit Jacson Browne and their road crew the Roseland grille the club that occupies the first floor of the Roseland tri level complex is where we started and it was upstairs form then on just like the golden days of the early 80's
if you follow Wild Dogs this is another installment in the 35 year run of the group who didn't start out to be a band . Live and no overdubs as it happened thanx for reading - Matt McCourt
