ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Winner of the 2005 South Florida Folk Festivals Fingerstyle competition and 1st runner up at the 10th annual Gambel Rogers Folk Festival Fingerstyle competition 2005.

This is Steve's 2nd recording to date. Early reviews are saying things like this

From Minor7th Web-ezine
www.minor7th.com

Steve Wildey "Along the Way", 2005 There are hints of Tommy Emmanuel and Alex de Grassi in Steve Wildey's solo fingerstyle playing. His compositions are full of twisting and turning, yet confident, surprises. He's a master of the grace note with deft hammer-ons and pull-offs as pioneered by James Taylor. Small flourishes such as this, including the tasteful use of harmonics, add up to a sweetly evocative sound. Fans of Tommy Emmanuel who can do without the pyrotechnics will love "Along the Way." © Alan Fark

Heading from Miami, Florida, this acoustic guitarist launches his 2nd
CD called Along the Way. Wildey is a creator of atmosphere with a
strong meditative touch. His compositions and melody lines have as
well a soothing as melancholic setup. He paints melodies on a canvas
full of different sound palettes. The music is soulful and very rhythmical.
The techniques he uses are superb and no killer chops are needed for
his music to impress a listener. The Blanchard guitars have a warm
and clean sound, which really suit the music. Ballads as Losing You,
Once More, Simple Things and This Time have all fantastic melody
lines and give one an embracing feeling. One of my favorites is
Stinkbuggin' which has an excellent groove and a very good structure.
The Moments in Between, an outstanding piece which touches ones
deepest feelings, just as Dancing at the Gate. The passion Steve
Wildey is able to express in his music is as well intensive as
absorbing one.

"Steve impresses me with his guitar work and musical sensibilities. He is always welcome on my radio show".

Arlene Boumel's House Concert Series:

The concert was FABULOUS. I had a packed house. When I say packed, I mean it was my biggest most well attended house concert yet. There were 50 people in my living room. There was not one square inch of space left. And, it was a fabulous audience, they were totally mesmerized by Steve. He is just such an incredible player. He played tunes from his first CD... "Little Man".... and also had preview copies of his soon-to-be released "Along the Way" CD available, and he played some songs from that one. He did a combination of solo fingerstyle guitar, and some songs with vocals. Steve is not only a really talented and gifted musician, but he brings a special presence to the stage that one doesn't often see in performers. When he smiles, the whole stage lights up and it is clear that he is totally lost in his music. He has a really warm way with the audience, a really nice way of keeping people involved, and a good sense of humor on top of it. I felt honored to have Steve bring his magic into my home for an evening.

Sass, Brass, Velvet and Gold!!!
From the sass and brass of STINK BUGGIN' and HATCHED... to the elegant waltz of DANCING AT THE GATE to the contemplation of THE MOMENTS IN BETWEEN, guitarist Steve Wildey shows the joy, the flair and the wisdom of his composing skills. A strong and mature follow up to his first CD LITTLE MAN.

Anyone who excels in listening to good guitar work or is an aficionado of the instrument will love Steve Wildey`s new CD,`Along the Way`.Traveller, the CD consists of 14 tracks with a song `What I`m Not`. My favourite compositions, or stops, are`My Brother`s Hands`,`Miss Mary`s Big Day`,`Stinkbuggin`,`Simple Things`,`Once More`,the title track,`This Time`,` The Final Ride,`the gorgeous Medley, and`Dancing at the Gate`.
In all,the tracks on the CD are infectious with spellbinding melodies that will exhilirate the traveller.Steve unravels pure artistry that holds the attention of the listener. This artist is a driver, as a skilfull technician, in the development of the motif.I always appreciate the creator who conjures melodic phrases then develops these musical gems into a full canvas of art with intoxicating charm. It is such a feature that renders his guitar work enjoyable and captivating, the melodist at the helm.Added to this, is the alluring guitar work along the highway, traveller. Each track propels the listener along, into the world of exstatic wonder. You will be asking for more, like Oliver. Finally,Steve`s art is pure delight. It is the poetry of the instrument in criss- crossing the musical landscape.`You will be in awe to the marvels on your journey to your final destination. The signs read an entertaining CD with new heights for the creator, with the participation of the listener.
Welcome to`Great Expectations!`,traveller.
