Album Notes
It's been 34 years since the last studio album was released by the late & great LARRY "WILD MAN" FISCHER. But a new album has been assembled, all in a 24 day period, by Larry's longtime friends and producers, BARNES & BARNES! They knew Larry quite well. They knew his genius. They knew his pain. And through a labor of love, we present to you, "DEEP STATE". A "new" Wild Man Fischer album. This will be Larry's final studio album in our lifetime...

15 tracks, made up of unheard Larry songs, bits, real life stories, & unreleased outtakes, which include Larry's "one a kind mind" talents and thoughts. They showcase his pathos, madness, sadness, brilliance, quirky comedy, and all the other elements that made Wild Man's music and psyche unique to this world...

B & B scoured their humongous vaults of tapes, videos and more, and found TONS of Larry material thought long lost, unheard, or completely forgotten about from the 1980's. These tracks include studio material, bits pulled from hours of cassette tapes, answer machine messages and the like. Amazing & quirky stuff here! A few old favorites heard for the first time in vastly different forms here too! (A tip of the cap to ART BARNES, who lovingly guided the crafting of this difficult yet rewarding project!) For now, this is an internet only release.

Yes, 15 tracks. Each song & segment plays like a chapter in a movie. Every "bit" is a world unto itself. Complete with sound collages, or soundscapes if you will. The proper "scoring" that makes each song and mood special. The Barnes guys tried to bring out the truth in what Larry is talking or singing about. This is truly an "audio/visual" experience. A cool different sort of listening experience. And like Larry, this album (film?) captures all of Larry's moods. And like a movie, it has a beginning, middle and ending. Larry had a continuous "tape loop" in his head: Frank Zappa ripped him off, the music business and his friends were out to get him, and people wanted to kill him... None of it true. Larry distrusted everyone who wanted to help him and let him realize his dreams. The dream? Basically, to be known as the the greatest singer in the world. And to many of us, he was. He wore his SOUL in his weathered & world weary voice. Perhaps the most transparent singer there ever was. And a sadder voice there never was. He constantly "quit" then got "back in" the music business. Literally in the space of 1 minute! Larry could be hard to work with and exasperating, but when he had what he called "THE PEP", he was a unique talent. Perhaps he was the most honest "soul" singer of all time! They call this "outsider" music, but you can't get more "inside" a person's head than what is offered here...

Larry was a diagnosed manic depressive, paranoid schizophrenic. When he was unmedicated, which was most of his life, he was his worst enemy. Not that it was his fault. The world sadly said goodbye to Larry in 2011. This "new" album is possibly the greatest album of all time. This is either the NEW Sgt. Pepper, or it's, uhh.... well, that's up for you to decide. But Larry had the PEP here. And he would be proud. His mind was one of a kind.
