ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
There’s a certain thrill to be had when riding an old Harley. The beast of an alarmingly Neanderthal engine is bolted directly to the frame, and it feels like it wants to explode into freedom with every revolution of the massive flywheel. It's nothing more than a mechanical argument at one hundred miles per hour.

The best music gives me the same thrill. I've always heard music as a constantly churning evolution of ideas, rhythms, notes, chords, lyrics, and hues. The best music to my ears has always been the recordings that have a kinetic sculpture aspect. Like a 1957 Harley Panhead, I want the parts of a song to join together to get me where I want to go, do it in style... but argue and fight and threaten and challenge the entire way. I want a song with an overriding simplicity, but sticking out in crazy ways, blending into perfection only when viewed as a whole, through the thrill of motion.

There are many jutting angles on this album. I hope that you can listen to this effort and find the angles that please your ears, while it gets you where you want to go... in style!

I want to thank my wife, Kutri, for tolerating me and my musical mayhem.
I wish to thank everyone who still owes me money, or the people who forgot that I owe them.
And, thanks to Tiina Taylor of Midnight Rock for believing in me and lighting the fire under my behind. (Label editor’s note: She never believed you’d actually complete this album, she only lit a fire under your backside to fry some bacon. Sorry if it’s still painful.)

May the evening sun never set on your couch.
May the prawns be with you!
Don’t eat with your feet.
Leave the lights on when you leave.
Thank you!
Love, Peace, and Bacon Grease…

Yours, Wiley

Wiley Cousins
Some fun recordings, Wiley plays the hubcap and beer bottle good! I nearly fell off my perch waiting for a cow bell, but it didn’t come. Maybe the cow lost her way. You could put a mike next to a woodpecker having a go at a metal post, those birds are musical. Rockin Robin is an option, I guess. Thanks for the music! Keep it going!!!!

Tuck & Roll
This guy sounds like a dozen musicians, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee The Killer, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Lonnie Donegan, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles...... All different. Some brilliant lyrics. Why haven't I heard of him before? Hi-5!

Tuck & Roll - Wiley Cousins
I heard Wiley Cousins for the first time in December 2017. I was mesmerised by the style and sound, so unique to him, on tracks such as Wacka-Do and Betty Jean. I knew straight away that I had to preserve this sound for posterity, and so put the proposal to Wiley. He agreed to record some tracks – this CD is the result. Later on, I asked Wiley how he comes by his unusual sound. He told me to imagine a car, with the wheels replaced by four eggs. You start the car, get moving, and the eggs roll any which way, in different angles. That’s how, Wiley explained, he hears his music. It rocks and rolls and swings, any which way! Then he simply records the song, the way he hears it inside his head. Hmm… glad that’s all cleared up then! Hope you enjoy this album as much as I do. Tuck & Roll!

Excellent, lyrics and recordings. For a lover is outstanding modern blues. Time after time sounds as good as an original Johnny Cash number. Great variety, something 4 everyone . Best record I've heard in months.

Tuck & Roll CD by Wiley Cousins
Wiley Cousins is a real and passionate lover of rock & roll and the rock culture, besides a restless spirit, who does not stop to investigate and find new paths and resources for his music, always inspired by rockabilly, blues or New Orleans rhythms.…. The Tuck & Roll album introduces to us an artist who, having rockabilly as a starting point, goes a step ahead and investigates in other fields, always from a perspective full of apparent simplicity but that communicates a genuine spontaneity and sense of humour in a continuous evolution of ideas, rhythms and styles, together with the special message of his song lyrics. In short words, this is a varied, different, vital and a hundred percent original recording. Very good.
