ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"With roots in the rhythms of beat poetry, randy chanties, and the emotional power of the folk-rock era, Moore's songs caress, engage and embattle life itself. Her words are ripped from a reservoir of wisdom hard-earned, a life of sharp observation and intense experience forged into song. Like an ancient triptych, the album design allows the proximity of each song to affect the next, creating ever-deepening layers of meaning." --Stuart Rosenberg: Chicago Magazine; Executive Director, SPACE

Griffith Park Listen
I was familiar with a few of Willa's songs before the Griffith Park CD was
released. They struck me as powerful sung live--catchy and different--with her acerbic wit
narrating the material and the percussive rumble of her guitar animating the experience. She puts on a show.
Captivating stuff! THEN I played this recording. In one listen I was in new territory.

Her collaboration with producer Stuart Rosenberg gives each song focus and care.
And the smart musical arrangements and sensitive, polished musical ensemble set her up just right.
You make a date to listen to Griffith Park cause you want to take time with these songs and Willa's flabbergasting way with them.

A Single Malt Delight
Brilliant, dark, sardonic, gallows humor, eloquent and insightful. Like a good 15 year old scotch, slightly peaty, smokey, with bouquets of fresh fruit.

Wow!
I absolutely love how Willa's incredible voice brings life to her poetic lyrics. There's something almost nostalgic in the mood her songs evoke--a throwback to a different time, only with modern lyrics and perspective. I adore this album.
