ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
When it comes to singing, William is a natural. His mother tells that already at the age of one, he would wake the family in the early mornings with his singing. It was only in his adult life that he first started taking music a bit more serious. Because he believes in the power of music and lyrics, he loves writing his own songs. He has a deep desire to communicate meaningful ideas, stories and life experiences. His music is soulful and honest, sometimes to the point of exposing his personal life experiences. Although he often performs with a band, he is at his best when performing live with acoustic guitar in hand. He was mainly influenced by the music of the 60's and 70's, didn't like the 80's (with a few exceptions), and loves modern day bands like Coldplay and even Muse. In the South African environment, William has grown up to sing both Afrikaans (his home language) as well as English. Most of his early recordings were English, but very recently he released his first Afrikaans songs on the album 'Ek Kan Nie Dans Nie'. This album can be described as soulful and honest. Although the album has an Afrikaans title, it consists of both Afrikaans and English songs. It also has a few covers on it, but 5 of the Afrikaans ones were composed by William and the lyrics were edited in collaboration with Pieter Smit. The arrangements on the album were done by his long-time friend Matthys Maree. The album was recorded at Odyssey Records, Pretoria, South Africa.

If only my words could dance to his music…
To pen down your thoughts on paper and adding the notes to compose something so special and brilliant is absolutely exceptional!

Taking you down his own memory lane, you can feel the words of his music creeping through your veins into the chambers of your heart and smoothing your soul.
For his first solo album, and note I am no music expert, this album surely exceeded my expectations!

Lingering melodies, memorable lyrics
An album from an artist with a beautiful voice, singing songs about life experience that you identify with.
It is an easy listening, well produced album. The playlist a good mix of William Warren's own compositions and his renditions of some well loved international hits.

I enjoy listening to the album, finding myself pressing the repeat button more than once!
