Album Notes
Will took up drums after seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show, and by the time he was 12 had formed his first band in Miami. The band members each earned $9 a night playing the popular surfing tunes characteristic of the 60's. But in Miami, drummers were a dime a dozen. Will, with his diverse talents, shifted to bass, an instrument that offered more opportunities. Quickly becoming a successful bass player, Will was part of a succession of bands including top 40 bands with names like "Chances R" "The Loving Kind",and "Green Cloud."

Will had a formal musical education at the University of Miami, where he studied French horn for a year and then s witched to a bass major. After classes, he worked on bass fundamentals listening to not only the Beatles, but also Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Steve Miller, The Rascals, Motown, Sly & the Family Stone, etc. He would put it all into practice six sets a night gigging with various local bands, including an innovative horn band called "Goldrush."

The Will Lee reputation spread throughout the music world, and brought New York looking for him. Trumpeter Randy Brecker called Will out of class one day and invited him to NYC to audition for "Dreams". In New York, Will's career soared. He toured with B.J.Thomas, Horace Silver, Bette Midler, Barry Manilow, The Brecker Brothers, and Herbie Mann. Gaining experience in the commercial field, Will found himself in high demand. As a bassist and singer, he's recorded with an extensive array of top performers including David Sanborn, Boz Scaggs, Tom Scott, Diane Sc huur, Tom Scott, Neil Sedaka, Carly Simon, Frank Sinatra, Phoebe Snow, Ronnie Spector, The Spinners, Spyro Gyra, Ringo Starr, Steely Dan, Cat Stevens and Barbra Streisand -- and taken from his discography, these are only some of the "S's"!

In addition, Will played in the New York "24th Street Band" which had great success in Japan, giving him a solo artist career that yielded him a top 5 single. Most recently, his solo CD entitled "OH!" reached the #1 position on the "Jazz Beyond" chart there.

Will can now be seen every week night across the US playing at the Ed Sullivan Theatre as the bassist with Paul Shaffer and the "CBS Orchestra" on the wildly popular "Late Show with David Letterman" and you can hear him playing, singing and speaking on many commercials on both television and radio.

He delivers more than just fine music for his audience

Love the style
Excellent style in Jazz, most artist seem to take the road that is traveled. I like the style of Georgy Porgy, It's a shame most smooth jazz stations do not put this song in it's rotation.

Carmine D'Amico

Funky and Fun!
Oh! by Will Lee is a joy, a celebration of Funk.I find myself bopping all around my home when I put it on.Great musicians, infectious grooves, and some beautiful love songs too! I highy recommed Oh!

Will Lee - oh! The Mother Of ALL Funkers!
Will Lee's cd oh! is a crazy journey through funk and jazz. I give it 6 out of 5 stars. Proving not only slick bass chops, but vocal and songwriting as well, without the showboating most players feel the need to overuse when a bass player puts out a cd. On this one, Will proves its all about the song and keeps his chops in the pocket... not that the world wouldn't want a self-indulgent Will Lee bass cd too (hint hint) ;~D.

Fantastic Bass Album!!!!!
Shelled out big bucks in 1996 to get Japanese copy of this wonderful CD. It really sucked at the time that this could not be distributed locally by a sane record company. Uncle Will is brilliant and the fun that he and his fellow artists had making this album is hard to ignore. "I Came to Play" is one of the many highlights of this album. As a frustrated bassist, I truly appreciate this effort. Will, release another...It's been 10 YEARS!!!

Wonderful, funky, soulful sound!
Love the sound and can't understand why Will doesn't have more solo stuff out there. Will's version of "My Funny Valentine" is one of the best I've ever heard. Great vocals...great music!

Bopalot Music (Bob Boyce)

This journeyman bassist has no problem showing his roots.
Will Lee presents straight ahead slap funk vocals with a light touch. His Florida 'Gold Coast' roots are ever present in this recording, thus showing us that working up a sweat on a dance floor is not a bad thing. From garage bands to David Letterman it's safe to assume us Floridians are very proud of Will Lee.

Top class !
Even though Will is from and lives/works on the East Coast, this album to me is a great piece of West Coast/AOR music. This album is appealing to fans of Toto, George Benson, Michael McDonald, Steely Dan, Al Green to name a few. Will's bass playing is as always groovy but it is his singing that his the star of the show. He definitively doesn't have a super wide range but he has a great feel and conveys a lot of emotion through his voice. His singing is never monotonous. Superb album !
