Album Notes
The Will McBride Group delivers energy and musicianship, with compelling original music and a great song selection, whether it be in a small pub/restaurant or on the concert stage.
The band began in the outskirts of Raleigh, North Carolina. The mission...a vehicle for recording and performing Will's creations of jazz-influenced rock & pop. In the beginning (2004), gigs were few and far between, playing cover songs while mastering how to perform the songs from Will's brand new solo CD 'As Yet...', but soon, they had added three original songs from that CD and the response was inspiring. In 2005 the band began performing steadily in the central NC region.

In 2006, writing began for another CD. Several changes in the band's personnel over the next three years slowed this effort, but the Will McBride Group's first CD as a band, 'Trifecta', was released independently in 2009, yielding one regional radio hit ('Hat Dance'), and their most popular song over the next five years ('Keep On Keepin' On'). Self-produced and performed as a trio with minimal overdubs, six original (all written by Will) and five cover tunes demonstrated the breadth of the band's skill set...standard jazz, odd time signatures,'s all in there. 'Trifecta' is essentially a live recording of the trio, as you would hear them in a small pub, but without a crowd. Five of the original songs remain in their repertoire today.

'Trifecta' attracted the attention of industry personnel, resulting in opportunities to open for three international acts as their tours brought them through central North Carolina (Styx, Aaron Neville, ZZ Top). A chance meeting with Grammy-nominated producer John Custer (Corrosion of Conformity, DAG) resulted in him guiding the recording of the EP '3PLAY', released in 2012. Will wrote all three songs on this one. The band's first music video (Mental Health Day) has attracted over 16,000 views on YouTube. '3PLAY' was a bigger sound with more texture, experimenting with new sounds, new styles, and clever use of counter melodies, but still only three musicians performed on this CD. 'Mental Health Day' and '90 Minutes to Nowhere', were added to 15+ FM radio stations across four continents.

More high-profile shows with touring bands (Eddie Money, Sixpence None the Richer, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Leon Russell) and busy tour schedule throughout North Carolina led to the most ambitious project to date. 'All In' was released in 2014, produced by John Plymale (Squirrel Nut Zippers, Tift Merritt). Keyboard accents and a horn section were added to some of Will's five original compositions. 25+FM stations have had one or more of the band's songs in rotation. Acclaim from industry critics and several thousand streams on Spotify confirm this is their most successful recording yet!

In 2018 the band has headlined a festival, and done a festival performance headlined by Rodney Atkins. They have also released 'Earthquake', a new single that has pushed total Spotify streams well above 30,000.

Primarily a trio, you can hear any of 17 original songs in their shows. The band performs primarily in North Carolina and southern Virginia. Will's wide range of influences include various Atlanta cover rock bands during his formative years, tutelage of blues guitarist Roger "Hurricane" Wilson, a brief tour with James Brown's side man, jazz saxophonist St. Claire Pinckney, and Will's subsequent contemporary jazz band 'The Quick' which boasted the drumming talents of Sam "Freight Train" Bryant (Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Brandi Clark).
