ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
THREE PEOPLE - TWO PATHS - ONE STORY

‘The Roads We Ride’ is a film noir script.
A storyboard.
A concept album.
Cinematic theatre.
A cheap novel in a dime-store.
A story of three people and the paths they take...

The title song, though? It's is about death. My death. Your death.
Yep, we’re all going down that particular road, hurtling towards who knows what?
Heaven? Hell?
The abyss at a fictional ‘McKenzie Ridge’?
A town named ‘VoodooVille’?

So that song has personal meaning.
All the songs do, truth be told - there’s a bit of me in all of my stories. And chances are, if we’ve ever met in a bar, there’s a bit of you in them too

The remaining 12 songs?

Well, they comprise a tale of our three friends and their twinned destinies

Let me introduce you to them:

Louise Carter - Dreamer & drifter. Daughter of notorious criminal, Jules Cartier, aka 'Judge Carter - The Frenchman'. Spent a lifetime on the lam…

Johnny Powell - Troubadour son of an itinerant preacher & con man.
He wears his father's smile...

Harry Morgan - An honourable man but unlucky & one of life's 'have-nots'. Son of an ex-gunrunner, his path seems preordained...

Setting:

1996 - The Big Storm

Background:

It’s a common misconception that there is only one Tornado Alley
In the deep south there is another just as devastating - Dixie Alley

Harry and Louise’s relationship was spinning out of control long before the storm broke. That was just the final act in their short journey together

Louise found Johnny playing guitar in some roadhouse the night she left

Harry never knew what happened to Louise. Found her car over in Lake Tahoe they said

Harry’s path is a downward spiral of alcohol, bad luck, shattered dreams and bad timing.
September, five years later, in New York he takes in the dawn...

Johnny and Louise’s spree concludes on the other side of the continent

All roads lead to VoodooVille...

Wily Bo Walker is one of very few independent blues artists from the U.K. who have been inducted in to the U.S. Blues Hall of Fame

With a career spanning more than 40 years, Wily Bo works across many styles and genres; Blues, Gospel, Soul, Classic R&B, Jazz, Rock, AAA and Americana

A solo artist, songwriter, composer and performer noted for his characterful vocals and swaggering 'live' performances, he has played ‘live’ worldwide with many award-winning musicians and featured on many hundreds of recordings

From his huge New York based ‘blues and soul revue’ and recording projects to his U.K. based, New Orleans themed, ’Rattlin Bone Theatre Show’, and from his solo acoustic swamp’n’stomp shows through to his stripped-down 4 piece rockin’ Blues and Americana themed ‘Wily Bo Walker Band’, Wily Bo proves why he has been recognised as an Artist who can twist genres into new forms and is worthy of his U.S. Blues Hall of Fame accolade of
‘Master Blues Artist’

An independent Scottish artist, selling into 65 countries and with a huge global following on streaming sites like Spotify (1.5 million streams 2017/2018)

Following on from the success of the 2018 release ‘Almost Transparent Blues’; No 1 for 5 weeks in the UK album charts, Top 30 in the U.S Blues charts on Roots Music Report, Finalist in the European Blues Awards for ‘Best Album of 2018’ and nominated as ‘Best Blues (Traditional) Artist’ in the LA Critic Awards Dec 2018, Wily Bo is preparing a new trilogy of albums:

‘The Roads We Ride’
Working with E. D. Brayshaw, the double album ‘The Roads We Ride’ is a film noir script, a storyboard, a rock, blues & americana soundtrack and a concept album completing the stories of the three characters introduced on their acclaimed ‘Stone Cold Beautiful’ release. Three people - two paths - one story…

‘Ain’t No Man A Good Man’
Expanding upon the success of his solo album ‘Moon Over Indigo’, Wily Bo and Grammy Award winning artist Danny Flam have been working with some of the cream of the U.K. blues scene (names which include Mike Ross, Stevie Watts, Pete Farrugia, Kareña K, Paul Long and more) mixing the best of U.S. & U.K. musicians with music that explores the genre-twists that have come to be expected of a Wily Bo production

‘Troubadour Jams’
Rounding off the trilogy, ’Troubadour Jams’ will feature many friends and guests reworking previous Wily Bo songs in new ways…

There will be more Wily Bo Walker Band releases in between, of course, as well as vinyl and other surprises

All roads lead to VoodooVille…
