Album Notes
WindStrum was formed in 2015. Bette is the "Wind" performing on a variety of flutes. David is the "Strum" with his toe-tapping finger-snapping guitar expertise. WindStrum is based in Payson AZ where we enjoy blue skies and fantastic views at 5000 ft.

Bette was born and raised in New York. In high school she considered two majors for college – music or chemistry. She choose chemistry for her education and music as her avocation. Music can be an expensive hobby so the chemistry helped pay for her music purchases and lessons.

Her musical journey with the silver flute was a little bumpy during her career as time pressures made it move to the back burner for long periods of time. About every 10 years she got a little tap on the shoulder saying it was time to get back to music. She studied privately as an adult at The Settlement Music School in Philadelphia and enjoyed playing in community bands and orchestras as well as teaching privately to new flute students.

Her most recent tap on the shoulder was in 2014. She was getting ready to retire and was asked to play flute / tin whistle with a group of local musicians in an Irish Session group. Starting up again was painful at first as my embouchure was non-existent and my tone and technique needed some work. She also studied jazz flute with Tony Vacca for a period of time.

Bette started playing the Native American Style Flutes in 1990 and has studied with Cornell Kinderknecht, Joseph Young, Mark Holland, Scott August and Mary Youngblood.

David Diamond was born in Santa Monica, CA and started playing guitar when he was ten. David plays a vintage 1969 D-18 C.F. Martin guitar that he’s owned now for forty-five years. In the mid-1970’s after taking music business classes at UCLA, David started an artist management company, managing bands and musicians based in Monterey, CA. From 1977 to 1990, David worked as an international concert light & sound mixer for The Temptations and as a world tour manager for Samantha Sang’s “Emotion” tour. He was then a recording studio production coordinator and personal assistant to jazz guitar legend, Lee Ritenour and tour manager for his all-star band, Friendship.

David moved to Flagstaff, AZ in 2009 where he became interested in Celtic traditional music and became a regular member of a Celtic session group who got together and played every Sunday at The Weatherford Hotel. David moved to Payson, AZ in 2012 and is now part of the Celtic traditional group “The Payson Session” where he met Bette Acker.
