Album Notes
The inspiration for this third Native American-style flute CD by acclaimed Native American flute player, “Windtalker,” comes from the Navajo philosophy of life, hózhó the word that embodies “walking in beauty,” the striving for balance and harmony, together with beauty and order.

Recorded in response to many requests for a CD designed as a soundtrack for meditation, yoga classes, or quiet reflection, this 13-song CD features solo Native American-style flute, flute duets, ocarina, world drums, harp, English horn, guitar, orchestra and soothing nature sounds. It provides a peaceful accompaniment for those desiring relaxation, peace, and comfort when situations in life challenge their hózhó and to restore their tranquility so they may again “walk in beauty.” Each song takes the listener on a hypnotic musical journey designed to relax the mind, embrace the spirit and soothe the soul.

Exceeded Expectations
I have to be honest, I'm not normally a fan of this style of music. Instead I usually listen to rock, metal, that sort of thing. With that said, I actually really like this CD.

It's ironic that I listen to this nature-themed album while driving my Subaru home from work considering I hate the outdoors (I feel it's just a tedious medium that needs to be traversed to get to the office). But this music is actually perfect to listen to after a busy day. It's a great way to unwind -- to mentally defragment as I call it.

So for those of you who are into yoga or meditation or tai chi, then yes, of course, get this CD; but if instead you're like me then it's still definitely worth the purchase.

I first heard Windtalker while attending an event he was performing at, and thought it would be a perfect background ambiance while working or hosting a party/get-together. And I also wanted to point out that I'm surprised how much diversity there is in the sounds his various flutes make. I'm used to hearing instrumental music that's kind of similar (but not really) in movie soundtracks and such, which usually with one conductor all kind of sound the same on each track (you'll notice a lot of movies tend to have the same theme or melody and tone, just modified throughout the film); but Windtalker is able to provide rich variance, and I feel like I purchased an entire album as opposed to just a couple good songs and "meh" filler.
