ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Stephen Wood is a composer and performer working out of Atlanta, Georgia and Columbus, Ohio. Stephen’s main compositional vehicle is The Stephen Wood Ensemble, as is evident with the brand new release of the ensemble’s debut CD – “Inaudible”. “Inaudible” is an impressive full-length record featuring an orchestrated nonet masterfully improvising over Stephen Wood’s evocative compositions. Wood’s strengths lie in his versatility, attention to nuance, and thorough understanding of many styles and genres – from the classical to contemporary. Committed to expanding traditional forms, Wood continues to push the relationship between groove and sound-scape in his compositions. His creative voice reveals a detailed attention to harmony and rhythm, and a great passion for the expressive power of sound.
Stephen’s previous band, Postal, began his commitment to new music in 2004 with the release of Postal’s debut CD – “Theory of Chaconne”. Postal was a young vehicle that allowed Stephen to hone his skills in expressive sound and the expansion of traditional musical forms. Currently, The Stephen Wood Ensemble operates with two satellite ensembles, a veteran group of Columbus, Ohio’s nationally acclaimed musicians who have been performing Stephen’s music for many years, and a newly formed group of Atlanta, Georgia’s young lions. Stephen is developing his fan base in the Southeast and Midwest by booking touring dates between Columbus, Ohio and Atlanta, Georgia.
More information about past, present, and upcoming music can be found at Stephen’s web site - www.stephenwoodmusic.com - and myspace page – www.myspace.com/stephenwoodensemble. The Stephen Wood Ensemble and Postal cd’s and mp3’s are currently available through CDBaby.com, iTunes, MP3.com, Napster, Rhapsody, and many other digital music sites, as well as at all shows and through contacting Stephen Wood personally.
