Throw Your Arms Up To Heaven

by The Wyos

As featured on the soundtrack to Spiderman 3, this album is a starting point for a band that salute the poetry of Bright Eyes, the fragility of Sparklehorse and the raw beauty of Calexico. With a spectral nod to Elbow The Wyos will always leave your glass

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The view from the bottom of the glass can be a glorious sight. The colourful glow of senses tarnished can lead to all manner of creative abundance. Welcome then to the world of melancholia and redemption, the world of the Wasted Youth Orchestra.

Daragh Dukes and Rory Carlile have known each other from the earliest of ages, and the body of work in their new album is a reflection of those years. It began in electronics and atmospherics, and as the songs fought their way out expanded to include guitars, violins, lap steel, drums, and the musicians to play them. The way real bands play. And this is a real band...

"We had to work to bring the band out of the songs, to get beyond the studio trickery and let them stand or fall on their own merits, naked and unashamed.." says Rory, the production oriented half of the duo. "Throw Your Arms Up To Heaven" is a starting point for a band that salute the fragility of Sparklehorse, the poetry of Bright Eyes and the raw beauty of Calexico.

Last orders then ladies and gents- is that glass half full or half empty? With The Wyos you can have it both ways. "These are the good times love/ No matter how bad you feel..." And the band played on...

One of the most original sounds ever created
While there are several nods to Sparklehorse and the like, the WYO's deliver a completely fresh sound while sounding comfortably familiar and hauntingly beautiful all at once. Every song seems like a scene from your favorite movie. If you're debating whether $13 is worth it, but you like "Letter From St. Jude," the short answer is YES! and buy it now!

Lyrical genius!!
Beautifully and cleverly written lyrics anchor this LP from Wasted Youth Orchestra, if you buy this, you will be ecstatic that you took the chance to listen to this band. I have only taken this CD out of my car stereo to bring it into my house to listen. Cheers!
