ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"I'm writing to pass on some of the enthusiastic feedback from my dancers about your latest CD, Cirikli. People are absolutely delighted with the whole CD and with your music generally - they always are - but with two things in particular:

1) Xenos' unique way of collaborating with ethnic musicians to respect tradition while adding enough freshness and creativity to keep it relevant for our audiences. This is extremely unusual and very much recognised and appreciated.

2) The new concept on Cirikli of providing longer tracks, specifically for dancing, which is extremely difficult to find on other recordings. People say it gives them time to really feel both the dance and the music in a way that shorter dance recordings don't allow, and brings them closer to the heart of what music and dance are all about - normally people can only 'get' this when dancing with live musicians, but they seem to get it when dancing to Cirikli too.

with thanks from many hundreds of happy dancers,"

Laura Shannon
