ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Xiomara Barbosa is originally from in Praia, Cabo Verde. she started devoting more conscious cultivation of musical language, exploring the music in a self-taught way. She would listen to the records of Artists like Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, and Cesaria and learn the songs exactly as recorded with precision. Her first performance in public was in her high school, Liceu Domingos Ramos in Praia, Cabo Verde.

Xiomara won several awards throughout her career; such as the Premio Pantera a Talento
Jovem Revelação in 2010, and Premio Talent Strela in 2011. In Spain, Nimma was one of the finalists of the Operacion Triunfo TV 5, a competition that had over seven thousand applicants.

In Cabo Verde, Xiomara performed for the President Jorge Carlos Fonseca. In the USA, she has performed in several venues such as the Multicultural Arts Center, and many others. Her performances have touched the American audience with her diverse repertoire and her unique interpretation of American, Brazilian, Cape Verdean, Portuguese, and tunes.

This is her first single recorded in the USA. Xiomara is proud to release EP title, Grito d’Dor. The title of the song composed by Tututa Evora, one of the major icons of the music and culture of Cape Verde. In Xiomara’s own words, I had the honor to perform this song with Mrs. Tututa Evora, the writer playing the piano. I am dedicating this single to my Mom, Ana Barbosa. Who has been waiting a long time to hear the first song my project produced by Jetro da Silva.
