Album Notes
Each of these piano improvisations are meant to counter the harshness and hurry of the everyday, a balm against stress and worry, a musical mandala for meditations upon love, peace, kindness, and hope, a springboard for daydreams and fantasies--and an exploration of harmony, rhythm, and sensation.
There's plenty of party music out there--club music, dance music, re-mixes and what-not--these are not that. Sometimes, you want music that doesn't grab you, but just touches you--allowing focus on other things, but providing an aural decoration in place of dull silence. And if I mention that many people find my music suitable for taking a nap or going to bed at night, please don't misinterpret that to mean it is sleepy--it's only that it invites contemplation.
And that is why I offer it here. Modern music is often intended to 'rock' you, to grab you, get you on your feet, inundate you with thrills or heartbreak or even mania--and that's all well and good. But there comes a time when we don't want to be swept away by someone else's emotions--we wish to focus on our own thoughts and feelings, but not in the dreary gray of silence--and if you feel that, you are my audience. Welcome, and enjoy!
