Soy libre release Sat Oct 28th 2017
Radio DJ’s ask me what was the inspiration to write this song titled soy libre? I simply asked them a question, do you know someone who has experienced relationship difficulties? A boyfriend or girlfriend or spouse walking out of the relationship? Do you know someone who is going through a tough time in their life? Then I share my experience and how that led to me writing the song.

Soy Libre depicts the reality behind tough times with a positive twist, while encapsulating Norman Vincent Peale’s quote of ‘tough times never last but tough people do.’ The message is a positive one. The band is down with helping people and the message we want to share is to never give up on your yourself!
About a year ago, I had two friends and one family member in the same week tell me that their spouse was walking out of their marriage. This intrigued me and caused the questions of why? This inspired me to write soy libre. I wanted to send a message for healing and for people to not give up on themselves. I’m not here to judge nor do I know everything. Here’s what I noticed, some researchers say that a relationship is not a 50/50 thing, it’s a 100/100 thing. This information reminded me of a conversation my grandma shared with me as a boy. The story included me choosing between two pathways to walk down in life. The first choice would include a road that displayed beautiful flowers, had a well-kept pathway, birds singing, on an illuminating sunny day. The other road would contain thick rows of thorn bushes, a dirt pathway, with unpredictable weather. She would say, ‘which road are you going to take son? I would reply, duh grandma, I would take the path with the beautiful flowers, and good weather. I didn’t realize grandma was preparing me for what was to come in my life. My grandma said, boy, you need to anticipate hard work, suffering at times, with an unpredictable forecast and be ok with that to be successful. The message we want to share is to never give up on your yourself!
A true story. My father encouraged me to get a degree in counseling, if my life’s intentions were to work with people. I did, but didn’t realize I was going to have to look in the mirror at myself so much during the completion of this degree. I learned I was a pain in the ass with a perfectionistic outlook of the world. A great combination going into a relationship. Lol! In yet another lessoned learned moment, further leadership training where the presenter indicated once again that I as the leader was the problem. Why is learning and growing so brutally painful I thought? Well, great leaders and successful people say that leadership means always growing and always learning. Leading ourselves is the first step, because we will never be able to control anyone else. This is why so many of us are so fearful of getting coached. I have news for you. The best and most successful in this world are coached. There is no shame in being coached, it just means you are ready for a breakthrough in your life.
I had so much fun working with the cast of actors in shooting the soy libre video! I am so grateful to have worked with my beautiful daughter, Kayla and her friends, Julissa and Morgan. I am also grateful to have worked with my talented son, LJ (Mayhem), who deserves the credit for writing the script for the music video. We took this moment to show value to a high school student videographer, Daniel, who’s interest lies with one day shooting film in Hollywood. We were grateful to have worked with famous and beautiful radio personality, Stephanie Valladolid, from Tejano Tucson Radio. I am also grateful to have my masters of disasters and bandmates Bob, Vicente, Christina, and Orlando bring their talents to the the song and big screen. All cast members did a phenomenal job portraying and executing the script. That’s a wrap!
