ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Yarub Smarait (Violinist / Producer)

Born in 1988, Amman-Jordan. His talent became apparent in his early years and he was recognized as a promising artist of his generation. He began his violin lessons at the age of four at the National Music Conservatory (NMC) under the supervision of the best teachers then. During his journey as a student he has participated and won several young artist competitions both locally and nationally. Having such talent, and at the age of 11, Smarait was one of the very few students who became members of the NMC orchestra which soon became the Amman Symphony Orchestra and has been a very active member since then.

It was clear that his love for music went beyond the classical cliché, Yarub began his journey exploring the world of Arabic music, and out of curiosity, he began taking lessons, attended Arab music workshops, joined the Amman Arabic Ensemble, Arabic Violin Ensemble and soon with time and practice, his Arabic musicality and performance techniques impressed wide audiences and music experts alike.

Yarub’s love for music has paved the way for many performances both nationally and internationally, some of which are in Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Syria, Lebanon, Bahrain, Qatar, Palestine, France, England, Sweden, Hungary, Azerbaijan, turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Denmark, USA, UAE and Spain.
He also recorded for world-renowned musicians such as Placido Domingo, Jose Thomas, Antonio Serrano and worked with the distinguished producer Javier Limon.

After a long wait, Smarait has established his own musical group that presents music of the Middle East with a Western twist to perform his own compositions and arrangements. He recently finished recording his own album, which consists of his own original compositions as well as arrangements for some famous world music. This album is collaboration with musicians from Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Armenia, Colombia, Chile, Slovakia, the USA and Spain.

Yarub received a scholarship to start his masters’ studies in contemporary performance in Berklee School of Music in Valencia where he is currently positioned as a student right now.
