Peace Pieces

by Yehuda Freeman

Album Notes
Yehuda knew he had something going for him when his 1st Grade class in Winnipeg, Manitoba,
Canada blew their minds at his prodigious first poetry reading. Inspired by Shakespeare, Elvis,
Dylan, The Beatles, and The Stones, he went on to form rock bands, write musicals, screenplays,
poetry books and songs, and eventually became an award winning independent film maker in
New York City.
As a Baal Teshuva (returnee to his Jewish roots and faith) he became heavily influenced by
the teachings and music of the Chassidic Masters. Perhaps his greatest accomplishment was the
formation of his family band in which all of his six children played their own instruments and
performed countless shows over the fourteen year period they played together. (Note: although
the band was making $1000 a gig in their "salad days" it would not have been possible had
Yehuda not decided to expand his writing talents into computer programming which led him into
a twenty year "day job" working for some of New York's top financial institutions.)
Now, having earned enough money to embrace early retirement, and with his kids all grown
up and producing bands upon bands of grandchildren, Yehuda has been performing as a New
York club and street musician for the last five years, honing his skills and talents to higher and
higher heights. One might say that like a fine wine he just keeps getting better with age.

Awesome kindness is your fame, G-d of Abraham;
Holy justice is your name, G-d of Isaac;
You will be what you will be, G-d of Israel.

Darkness is your hiding place, G-d of Abraham;
No man lives who's seen your face, G-d of Isaac:
You will be what you will be, G-d of Israel.

And the Earth will rejoice and the Heavens will sing
When all nations proclaim: "The L-rd will be King!"
When all nations proclaim the L-rd, G-d of Israel.

I'm pouring out my soul to you, G-d of Abraham;
Your people long to live with you, G-d of Isaac
G-d for all Eternity
Please reveal your Majesty, G-d of Israel!

Dovid is the King of Israel and he will be the King forever;
We say these words everytime we bless the moon,
Sometimes we sing them all together:
Dovid, King of Israel, chai, chai v'kayom;
Dovid Melech Yisroel, chai chai v"kayom;
Dovid Melech Yisroel, chai chai v"kayom!

Dovid killed Goliath with a sling-shot and a stone;
And his descendent, Moshiach, will probably conquer the world with a song.
Moshiach, King of Israel, chai, chai v'kayom;
Dovid Melech Yisroel, chai chai v"kayom;
Dovid Melech Yisroel, chai chai v"kayom!

"PSALM 112 (8,9) (translation)
His heart is steadfast, he does not fear,
Until all his oppressors are destroyed.
He has distributed his wealth, giving to the needy.
His righteousness will endure forever;
His might will be uplifted in honor.

"TRUST IN G-D (and Our Guns)"
The Old Wild West, y'know, was famous for its nasty varmints,
Bank robbers, cattle rustlers, outlaws on the run;
They got through that and I'll tell you how they did it -
By trusting in G-d and their guns.

Then came those World Wars with them murdering tyrants;
Stallion, Hitman, Mayonaise on your tongue;
They got through that, too, and I'll tell you exactly how they did it -
By trusting in G-d and their guns.

With G-d in front of you there's no need to be afraid;
And with your gun beside you will always get paid.

Now this great nation of ours it ain't getting any younger;
But we're still finding ways of having some fun;
Especially considering some of our Global neighbor's downright ornery behaviour -
We still gotta -
Trust in G-d and our guns.

When they put the Lubavitcher Rebbe into prison,
That was their first mistake;
Cause when his iron will met their iron curtain,
Something had to break!
Yud Bais Tammuz, Yud Gimmel Tammuz too (two),
Days of redemption for each and every Jew;
Yud Bais Tammuz, Yud Gimmel Tammuz too (two),
Days of Ge-u-u-u-u-la!

In a 1927 Russian prison it wasn't about "Hey buddy! Give me five!"
They tortured him but he wouldn't talk,
The beat him til he couldn't walk,
But he left that Russian prison . . . alive!

His liberation cracked the walls of Golus (exile),
And the lesson for us all is understood -
We gotta take our personal KGB's
Transform them for the world to see
into Kindness, Goodness, and Brotherhood!
