ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Retrospection is a reflection on love, longing, and immigration
over several years and a reminder of universal human states.
Each piece describes a moment from the past and explores different
inner rhythms of the human psyche, creating a story that rings of challenges,
trials, and triumphs. This album is a personal collage; a traveler’s account
through intimate experience and honest emotion, placed in landscapes
of sound and rhythm and told with a storyteller’s flair.

1300 Miles
A racing view across the Aegean sea towards
a lover left behind; a difficult long-distance romance.
It was inspired by the spiraling states of purposeful momentum,
surrender, reinvigoration, and disarray.

Closer to East
Inspired by an intense longing for home and the familiar,
“Closer to East” is a reflection of deep nostalgia.
A reminder of the power of memories and the pull
of presences that grow in beauty while out of sight.

Chasing Thoughts
The restless mind filled with thoughts of being caught up
in expectations and the fear of being swept away
in frenzied deadlines, self-criticism, and the opening
and closing of life chapters; confrontation and skepticism
are front and center in this piece as it wheels and dives,
incited by a furious pace.
Peaceful Warrior
During a crowded and tense time of fierce frustration,
desperation, chaos, and anger, one man stands out
in quiet opposition during the mass protests against
the devastating austerity measures of June 2011 in Athens,
some hours before the validation process in the parliament.
His seemingly calm yet resolute stance within the turbulent storm
of political upheaval inspires “Peaceful Warrior”.

The Hideout of Remorse
“The Hideout of Remorse” delves into a murky place
within the human spirit, where doubts, disappointments,
and difficult decisions take on a life of their own.
Grappling with this darkness, the piece depicts
an inner battle or struggle to escape from the haunting
and persistent rhythms which fill the space.
An evolution that offers a sort of truce, drawing
the controlled chaos to a gentle and hopeful close.

After the Rain
Inspired by the stunning view of the landscape
of the city of Ioannina on a summer morning.
It is a piece that celebrates being in the moment,
times of quiet contemplation, and the beauty of nature.
A reminder of the satisfying connection between
earth and ephemeral.
