Album Notes
Young Brothers Trio

The Young Brothers trio is a new innovative band which has been in the works for two years. The band, which roots it’s repertoire in the traditional jazz genre, prides itself in the young “Fresh” approach to jazz standards. With the infusion of original compositions, the trio has developed a following of both old and young alike. Collectively the band has performed in more than 30 countries as well as most major jazz venues throughout the United States. With their debut recording “Tales of Time”, the Young Brothers trio has successfully established a “sound” that appeals to the most critical of listeners.

Tim Young - Piano

Pianist/composer Tim Young is starting to make his mark in the jazz world. After completing his education at the University of North Texas, Tim returned back to the east coast to serve as pianist with the Army Jazz Ambassadors of Washington, D.C. Tim has held this position for the past seven years. Tim has performed extensively throughout the entire United States, and has performed in Japan, China, and Germany. Tim is a sought out player because of his ability to adapt to any musical situation. His style covers just about all. Tim has performed with Ray Anderson, Steve Swallow, Charles McPhearson, "Doc" Cheatham, Rebecca Parris, Joe LaBarbera, Lou Marini, Ben Vereen, Greg Gisbert, and Slide Hampton.

Alphonso M. Young, Jr. - Drums

Drummer/percussionist, Alphonso M. Young, Jr. has been a professional musician for more than 18 years. His versatile and imaginative style of performance has not only charmed audiences around the world (more than twenty countries), but has lead such noted artists as Randy Brecker, Bob Berg, George Colligan, Hal Galper, Giacomo Gates, Buck Hill, Etta Jones, Ira Sullivan, Othello Molineaux, Rebecca Parris, and Jon Secada to acquire his talent. He was also a percussionist for the 1992 European tour of the Broadway show “Sophisticated Ladies”, as well as a drummer for the highly-acclaimed vocalist Vanessa Rubin. The most recent addition to his musical repertoire is his stunning application of Latin “chops” to enhance his bopping jazz style. Alphonso, who is currently a music instructor with Loudoun County Public Schools and on the faculty of Shenandoah University, is the drummer with the Eric Byrd trio and the Robert Larson trio.

fantastic music
This is just another example of how Jazz is alive and well in the next generation of cats....this is artistry without pretense, without trying so hard to be hip. This IS hip, indeed. A great selection of tunes with strong playing throughout makes up a phenemenal disc of music. You don't just get great jazz on major labels or big names - you can get the same quality right here.

Tales of Time
I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to this album and recommend it to any traditional jazz enthusiast.

Tales of Time
This is a very great expression of quality Jazz with three of the major instruments in the genre of music. The Piano, the drum the bass playing the most loved standards and easy listening Jazz. It is more than fulfilling to hear these young cats make such a delightful impression on an old cat like me

The Young Brothers - Tales of Time 4/4
O's Notes: Pianist Tim Young and his brother drummer Al unite for their first recording together as a trio with bassist Bhagwan Khalsa. They play combinations of originals and standards that have a fresh swinging groove that is very engaging. Guest artists Ben Boker adds sax on "I Can't Give You Anything But Love" and Sara Jones sings on two tracks most notably "Skylark".
