Album Notes
Growing up in the Washington DC punk scene on the tail end of the riot grrrl movement, Gina started playing guitar, writing zines and recording demos. She then moved to Brooklyn and started touring nationally, including two Warped Tours (all 50 stops in the US and Canada), Queer Fest Midwest, the Estrojam Festival, Homo A Gogo, LADYFEST in NYC, DC, North Carolina, Ohio and Colorado, the POPMontreal Festival and the NACA Northeast Showcase.

Gina has shared the stage with artists such as Team Dresch, Mirah, Kimya Dawson, Paramore, Bitch & Animal, Alix Olson, and even Le Tigre once, back in the day. She has collaborated with artists as diverse as Scream Club, Bonfire Madigan and Jill Sobule, and her music has appeared on PBS and Dawson\'s Creek as well as in numerous independent films.

Gina is interested in the intersections of gender and performance and has written and directed three off-off broadway plays: she cuts herself/she likes to write, phone|sex|cancer and God in a Girl. Her fourth play, Salt Water, is currently in development.

Gina\'s primary gig at the moment is with electro/hip hop duo TEAM GINA, with whom she tours and records.

So... after a long hiatus from singer/songwriterdom, gina has just released her third solo album, 3AM VOICE. This lo-fi gem was recorded with Cindy Wonderful of Scream Club and Joel Seward of Doomhawk (formerly of the Pharmacy). The album was mastered by Radio Sloan.

Five Gold Stars
Gina Young is a fabulous storyteller. Several of these songs are so catchy I could imagine hearing them in commercials or movies. Quantum Physics and Me is the gem on this album I believe but I also really enjoy fixyrhair. If you haven't bought it already, do it, and play it loud with the top down while sipping on some nice iced tea with a sprig of mint as you wink to those on the corner who glare in envy.

Riot-GRRRLife Zine

A must own for any fan of riot-grrrl music
The best way to explain Gina Young’s new album 3AM Voice is to say it sounds like an activist whose heart is beating strong even through heartache and turmoil in this world. Gina Young to me is just the epitome of riot-grrrl. She speaks her mind, writes about what is affecting her heart first and puts out soul grabbing vocals that make yr heart stop and instantly make you feel like she knows right where yr coming from.
Seriously this album has everything you’d want on an album. Dance beats, heart breaking lyrics with vocals that make you shiver, and that riot-grrrl politically charged lyric vibe. 3AM voice is a must own for any fan of riot-grrrl music.

I though Intractable was amazing, and had no idea that this album was going to blow me away like it did. It breaks my heart and then glues it back together. I only listened to it on repeat for about a week...and in the end I have decided that all Gina is good Gina! Thank you.

Gina in liquid form... str8 into my veins
I have been a follower of Gina Young for years. Each time she drops a new album I FALL IN LOVE ALL OVER AGAIN! Her music has helped me and expressed my feelings when I couldn’t even understand how I felt. STUPID Ex-boyfriends (Lous Song, TV Girlfriend!), Anxiety (College) and she made me want to change the world. (My Generation and Politician!). We need more female artist willing to declare what Gina declares! I know that her music has made me smile when everything else SUCKED! I hope that she knows that I am probably one of many, many, many fans whose life she make brighter! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR NEW ALBUM GINA! All the gay girls and gay boys will love you FOREVER!

Oh yes, Gina needs to come out with an energy drink next!

my new favorite
This album is crazy good. I've been listening to Gina for years and have always liked her music, but this cd blew me away! Though this album is a big departure from her earlier albums, older fans will be happy to hear that her lyrics have remained poignant and every song resonates with the listener. When you add in the electro pop beats, you have an unstoppable mix that will have you singing out loud on the subway. 3AM Voice is the album that finally showcases Gina’s genius as a songwriter and musician. This album has converted all my friends into fans – you won’t’ be disappointed. “Don’t Think It’s Hot” and “Too Cool to Cry” are brilliant and my personal faves.

like what!
what the hell. this is album is so surprising. i've always loved gina young because she's brilliant and it shows in every area of her music making; she's super talented, she has really strong and nuanced politics, *and* she's my best friend, true. but this album really caught me off guard-- it's so different, stylistically, from gina's other solo stuff; it's full of synthy bleeping machines and distortion but she's retained every last saliently gina thing that makes all of those kids become her groupies and memorize her songs. think part belinda carlisle, a smidge of debbie gibson and tiffany, and then like PJ harvey?

"if i could wake up" itself is worth the 12 bucks, but the whole album is alternately funny, devastating, hopeful, and real.

endearing and all the more real
"Young sings with an earnest quality in the same vein of the Murmurs and Tegan and Sara. It might be a little lo-fi, but I find it endearing and all the more real on love songs like "Quantum Physics and Me."

This Album Could Have Been Subtitled NO GUTS NO GLORY
3AM Voice\" is an eclectic mix of acoustic guitar tracks with experimental electronic raw vibes, plus some lyrical revenge mixed in. Gina Young is a endowed artist with a lot to say. Playing multiple instruments with sometimes pointed views on friends ,politics and love.
Fun and Fierce \"Quantum Physics and Me\" has a great drum driven sound and honest ironic romance.\"Let\'s walk around with our hands in each others pockets stare at each other till our eyes fall out of the sockets\".
My personal favorite,\"You Didn\'t See Me Love You\" is a haunting refrain that stays with you. A melancholic reminiscence of love past. Really lovely, truth full and clever songwriting, with sometime avant-garde harmonic dissonance that perfectly aligns. Truly an undiscovered songwriters dream.\"I never gave you my love I was too scared that you\'d give it back.\" No doubt.
\"Fixyrhair\" is honest words with a really sexy melodic discord. An awesome electro-punk-alt-rock sound. A double aperitif with a cool remix also included on the album.
\"My Last Three\" is also a favorite. Great acoustic guitar reminiscent of Nick Drake ,and from the heart verse, an articulate voice resounds. A personal letter that might actually break your heart.
\"assholes and liars\" is a pretty penned F-you. Lovely vocal melodies. Wish they weren\'t wasted on A-holes though. Had to say it,I like the melodies that much.
Overall, it cannot be denied, Gina Young has Guts and Glory ,and I wish her continued success and growth in all her endeavors. Hers is an important voice for this generation, that I know will be heard for a long time to come.
