ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Consistently maintaining intact his self-assured and cocky attitude, Central Cali rapper Yung Cali quickly made the right connections in the industry as a developing MC in the Central Cali's independent rap scene. As a youth coming up in Bakersfield's Southeast District, a range of neighborhoods known more for its violent crime than its gospel heritage, Yung Cali...born Jermaine Pugh) caught the hip-hop bug early on because of Central Cali mainstays Izzy and Drib (I.D.) and the Got Much Game Clique (G.M.G.), who attended the same high school as Yung Cali.

The local buzz surrounding the eager rapper began with the song "These Are The Hoez," which sampled both, N.W.A.'s "Boyz In Tha Hood", and Too Shorts, "Freaky Tales". He continued to release many mixtapes and local singles with the support of business partner CO2 on their independent label Ligit Style Entertainment. On his 2006 debut album, Still 805'n, he gathered Central Cali rap luminaries, like CO2 and producer Oreo, to cement his status as a noteworthy newcomer. Also around this time, the Bay's more club-oriented hyphy movement started to bubble over into the national mainstream, but Yung Cali didn't follow the trend, still brandishing his style of "reality" rap. In 2006, he amicably left his former label to pursue opportunities with his new "partner in crime" and Co-C.E.O. Jay-2-The-Tee, who was an executive producer on Yung Cali's following releases, F**K YUNG CALI mixtape as well, on their new Ligit Boy Muzik Group imprint. His affiliation to Jay-To-The-Tee allowed him to work with top industry producers and lead to greater exposure outside of the Central Cali Area locale as shown by his feature in The 99c Show DVD magazine's "Hot New Artist" section.

"I've always been able to make good music. It's really a blessing to be as talented as I am. A lotta niggas say I'm too cocky, and I should be more humble. I feel like niggas who are "lesser niggas" are gonna feel like that regardless! So fuck 'em. My REAL niggas know what's up and THAT'S all that matters!" With the success of the "F**K YUNG CALI" mixtape, the streets are definitely anticipating the next Yung Cali project. "Keep ya eyes on me baby. I'ma take my city....no scratch that, my whole SECTION to the top! Real niggas come up to me all the time tellin' me how they appreciate what I do for the town. I'm on top of my game and there are NO DAYS OFF! I don't take anything for granite, cuz I know....easy come....easy GO!!!
