ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Jazz for Molly was recorded by local New York City musicians, active in performing, teaching and creating jazz music. The collection is dedicated to a little girl named Molly, who was born in 2015 into the family of the CD’s producer, Yuri Gorokhovich, with the purpose of introducing her to jazz in its intimate form, using the combination of guitar, voice and trumpet. Among the selections are pieces that reference childhood and two rare lullabies by Soviet composer Isaak Dunaevskii, written for the 1936 film "Zirk" (Circus). Created by Daralyn Jay (vocals), Bob Arthurs (trumpet) and Steve LaMattina (guitar), this recording is another "labor of love," released four years after Gorokhovich’s Jazz for Svetlana. We hope that not only little Molly but many people around the world will be touched by this music and its interpretation after listening to the album.
