ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
La voix de la mer (The Voice of the Sea), a French musical, was written, directed and produced by teacher/musician Yvette d’Entremont, a singer-songwriter from Nova Scotia, Canada, and first opened on April 18th, 2013. The story revolves around a community bound by the beauty and strength of the sea, and of this mystical Voice that has always called out to them and been part of their lives. Despite a tragedy at sea, the people of the community come together in solidarity. They draw strength and courage from the sea, in helping them cope with the pain and in continuing on with their lives, as those before them had always done. Starring 13 year-old Emily Adams as “The Voice”, Corey Wilson as Simon, and Jessica LeBlanc as Louise, and a 30-member cast of students and staff, the show features 19 original songs.

Bilingual singer-songwriter or “chanteuse” from the Acadian region of Pubnico, 2006 ECMA nominee for Francophone Recording of the Year ( “Mes deux souliers”), twice nominated for a Music Nova Scotia award (Francophone Artist of the Year), Yvette is versatile both as a performer and keyboard player. Her lively performances combine a rich blend of traditional, Acadian folksongs, and original and contemporary French/Acadian ballads. She has performed with Symphony Nova Scotia (2003 and 2004), has toured with the Maritime Forces Stadacona Band , and toured in France. Yvette released her debut CD in the fall of 2002. In May 2007, her version of "C'est si bon" was used as part of the United Nations’ World Food Program in their ad campaign, and was released in Europe. A French and drama teacher and playwright, Yvette produced and directed the highly acclaimed French musical production, Roméo et Juliette, in May 2009. On April 18th, she premiered with her new musical, "La voix de la mer". She is currently working on material for her next CD, as well as other musical projects, set for summer 2014.

Among the best!
I bought this album after attending the "Dress Rehearsal" of the Musical in Tusket prior to the Troupe's departure for France. It is a beautiful selection of original songs composed by Yvette d'Entremont for the Musical. Kudos to all who participated and especially to Yvette! The variety in this album and the uniqueness of each song remind me of the genius of Andrew Lloyd Webber!
