Album Notes
“Zanya’s music ranks amongst the best! She has a stunning voice with a rich, melodic and jazzy blend of neo-soul!”

Zanya Laurence, new to the stomping grounds of the Mile High City, is itching for adventure & ready to blaze her own soulful trail through the many opportunities of a new land. Her sophomore album, due out October of 2012, is highly anticipated by her fans & reviewers, but only the latest chapter in the story of her musical journey.

Inspired by R&B/Soul, Jazz & Funk, & melting them down into a fluid sound that is all her own, Zanya has incorporated her creative writing & raw emotion into the lyrics found on her independent debut, “Soul Theory”, recorded at her studio/company, “Soul Spot Music”. After moving back to Albuquerque from Los Angeles when her father fell ill, she was nominated for several New Mexico Music Awards while performing locally & promoting her single, “Sunday”, through a nation-wide top 40 radio campaign with Howard Rosen Promotions.

“With astonishingly ripe class, Zanya Laurence is a solid independent Neo-Soul queen in the modern R&B genre and a serious recommendation for any true music lover of substance and character.”

With honors, she graduated from the Vocal Institute of Technology at the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, CA with extensive training in theory, performance & music business, while performing the Hollywood area regularly with her band in well-known venues such as the Knitting Factory, as well as cozier venues, like the Bliss Café’.

Born in southern California & raised in New Mexico, her musical evolution encompassed learning to play the classical guitar at her father’s knee. In choir & band during her younger years, she moved onto writing & recording originals by her teens, eventually growing into the passionate muse she projects in her work today.

“Zanya Laurence reaches Alicia Keys’ highs on “Soul Theory”! Thankfully, Laurence is someone who is seemingly inspired more by Keys’ creative ambitions than her trademark style.” Fear of a Rap Planet

Although, Zanya Laurence has been compared to several established artists, her substantial & vocal originality can be heard through her passionate expression, phrasing & thoughtful delivery. At the end of the day, Zanya’s sound is truly one of a kind.

“Laurence is a young talent with an obvious affection for classy, soulful artists such as Alicia Keys and the disappearing act known as Lauryn Hill but, Laurence holds her own. Blessed with a rich, sultry voice that is no pale imitation of her idols.”

I loved this album. I didn't think you could do better than your first one, but I was wrong. I enjoyed every song on this album. From start to finish, it was great. The song writing alone, was amazing. Trust me, get this album, and you will not be disappointed. Awesome!!!

I received my copy of "Always" today, and as soon as I put it in and put on my ears, I closed my eyes and went on a musical journey! From the first note to the last, Zanya dances through the notes like a sprite in the forest dancing through the trees. This record is definitely going into the favorite side of my collection and I will reach for it every time I get a chance! If you haven't heard Zanya sing you're absolutely missing out! You will NOT be disappointed!

First I would like to thank Zanya sooo much for the signed copy of her new album "Always" you can only imagine my excitement when I saw it in the mail this past week! Neo 2 Soul Review
"Zanya Laurence is back with a great neo-soul album! 17 quality, emotional songs about real life, delivered with passion & conviction. I struggle to find a weak song on this fine set. This girl could go all the way!" -

Excellent follow up to 'Soul Theory'
5 years have passed since the release of 'Soul Theory', Zanya Laurence's debut album. 'Soul Theory' was just an excellent album, and I knew it would be difficult to come back with something as good as the first, or better.
"Always", Zanya's second album is just that. As good or better. It's got that same style you would want to hear from Zanya, and she adds some new soulful flavors to the mix.
Just hearing the intro "Listen to me" immediately takes you in and you're instantly excited; 16 more songs that range from 'Excellent' to 'Outstanding', ending with a happy l tune aptly titled 'Happy', which she obviously ended with because she knew you would be.
I love every single track on this CD. It has been the only music I've listened to since I received my signed copy (Much appreciated!)
Note - After hearing this CD, I contacted Zanya Laurence in regard to her song 'Karma'.
'Karma' will be included in the short film "Karma Calling"(US) 2013

Thank you again for the CD, and the Music for the film!!!
