Album Notes
Sleep in the Sea Tonight with Me reminds us that once you love with complete surrender there is no shore to turn back to, no map or language to describe the depths of such emotions, or the loss that follows and the paradox of wholeness all at once. In this sensual poetic collection, you will want to submerge yourself in the waters of love over and over again; you will volunteer to be lost in the sea of ecstasy.

The hard copy of Sleep in the Sea Tonight with Me comes with a six panel black and white photography session that accompanies the listener on a beautiful journey into the soul of passion, eros and love. Even if you are a digital download junkie, you will want the photos that accompany this collection! Sexy and sensual, moody and erotic, timeless and in exotic bloom.

Laurie Anderson Lookout!
Zayra is really doing something different here on this CD. First off: I loved the packaging, really, I sell cd's with shit cases, and stickers... Sometimes, I just write on them with marker, but Zayra must have struck a deal with the devil on this disc because the artwork, photography, and overall presentation of the CD is really high-end and appealing. The music is extremely suiting to the performance and lyrics, and I just really enjoyed the sound quality and stories. Plus, Zayra's hot. Songs that stood out were the villanelle "Sleep in the sea tonight with me", and "the sun is just a star", and "We are stained with salt" at least for me, and I'm a dandy, I'm a real Huckleberry.

Enthralling,enigmatic higher echeleon spiritual poetry.
Sleep in the Sea Tonight takes the listener to all the places that are part of the universe and the universal oneness of two,it calls to the spirit and marries the soul to the moments that meld the liquidity of the mercurial.Timeles, tasteful and a delectable, delicious experience of all the echoes we wish to explore again and again.

I love it! Although I cannot afford to get the cd I wil try to get others to get it.Your narrative is great and your voice depicts the poems well.

A rich mix of metaphor, magic, and sighs.
Zayra Yves poems are like exercises in depth. The dance with language and textures of phrase draw one ever deeper into the piece, leading into subsequent readings with new layers revealed. Beginning with her "Benediction" with it's revelation of an open mind, an open heart, to the challenging structure involved in the title piece, she shows us vistas of image and fully engages all seven senses.

Hearing her voice express these gems adds another level of understanding, and the nusic is so well chosen, performed, and mixed, that one wonders that music and spoken word are not more often wed. Her "Our passions may be numbered like this use image and metaphor to make me wonder if my blood, my heart, may not be inextrictably bound to the sea.

In "Gathering light in a bottle," she wraps us in layers of metaphysical gause, a symbiosis of spirit and earth, and in that perfect last stanza, gave birth to the title for a must-read volume of poetry, "Empty as Nirvana." "speak to me of flowers illustrates why I, myself, never write very short poetry, I could never do it like this. Yes, this collection is a sensual exploration of love, but also so much more. One may find themselves with visions of Tibetan prayer flags, or Gods, dancing 'round maypoles, or dream of angels, and stars, mating over a beach, where the sighs of the ocean wash over twining feet.

No longer need you climb a mountain to hear the Heavens sing of life on Earth ..
As enticing and sensuous as “half a split kiwi“, as mysteriously compelling as “a drowned cathedral“, Sleep In The Sea Tonight With Me is a collection of spoken word poems written and spiritedly performed by Zayra Yves, complemented by a series of soul-shifting , transporting melodies ranging from the dance-inducing and upbeat, through the thoughtful and mournsome, beyond to the ethereal.

Track by track, the listener is led across landscapes of love and life, and over miles of shared spiritual and human experience which bids us to “vanish into the ultraviolet eye of love” so we might follow the footsteps of one who needs “the fire myth of lion-coloured solar flares”, passing by “swinging lanterns, and closed faces in the alley smoking desert cigarettes lit in the night”, thereafter to “sleep in the sea” and “sink like a kiss”, prior to being wanted “as warm as butter on toast ... as a risk ... loose as spilled milk”, only to rematerialise “in mid sentence under a hanging branch with chimes”, to give but a few examples of the stunning images and journeys available to those who can count “Sleep In The Sea Tonight With Me” amongst their cd collection. Those also, who will be aware how “life is a series of questions ... a parade of irregular heartbeats waiting for love to answer”, while considering whether “the sun is just a star” and pondering notions of Earth’s transience.

My favourite of the fifteen tracks is the eleventh, “Gathering Light In A Bottle”. A heartfelt and hauntingly beautiful reminiscence telling of a wound left by love’s loss, which even a night in Egypt - scented with yellow curry and emboldened by women draped in gold - seemingly could not cure, while a cigar box full of coloured postcards inadvertently comes to serve as the embodiment of love’s ghost. When it seems the departure of another’s heart should leave our own in solemnity’s shadow, we must surely be thankful, then, for those little glass bottles on the windowsill, quietly going about their duty, “gathering the light” to illuminate our time of need.

I would recommend this audio album not only to lovers of poetry and music, but to all, for it is to all human hearts that Zayra’s words can speak. Here is a poet who demonstrates poetry is alive with a heartbeat all of its own, effortless in dispelling time-tired images of words entombed behind cobwebbed covers in corners of libraries, and of slumbersome students slumped over desks in classrooms waiting for the bell to ring. Indeed, it would be true to say that Zayra’s poetry is nothing less than the bell itself, and so much more ...

Wanda Lea Brayton, author of "Swanee Sighs"

A marvelous and spiritual journey, filled with grace...
I've been reading Zayra's incredible writing for several years now. I look forward to each new poem
with anticipation of greatness and beauty - I have never been disappointed; quite the contrary, in fact.
She has inspired me to pick up my own pen so many times. I have become a much better writer
thanks to her presence in my life. But ahhh, to hear her lovely, lyrical voice speaking her soul song
aloud, is much more than only precious and beautiful - it is a gift so sacred and moving, I cannot begin to
describe it. It is an experience to savor, repeatedly. She is an amazing force of nature and I love her dearly. She deserves far better than this humble homage. I enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who has a heart - and knows it. She is a magnificent, magical artist of the highest caliber. She is a quiet and gentle
friend to the world.

Take this sensual and visual journey!
“Sleep In The Sea Tonight With Me” by Zayra Yves is a sensual collection of modern poetry, set to the background of hypnotic and engaging compositions. One aspect of this CD that is both undeniable and irresistible is its thick emotional and visual atmosphere and dense mood. Zayra coveys messages of burning, flaming passion and desire for blissful love-making with lyrics that strike a beautiful balance between straight-forwardness and poetic abstraction and imagery. “I Want You” demonstrates the unmatchable passion and zeal Zayra puts into her vocals. “Eros and the Sea” paints beautiful imagery and is intensely intriguing with its creative analogies and delightful abstraction. What’s more, the musical compositions of every song on this CD serve as the perfect accentuation and foundation for these stories of yearning and longing! Polished with graceful production, this CD is on fire! If you are searching for a poetic sensual journey, you will find your place in this CD!
