ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Avant-duo Zen Mother is set to release their debut album, I Was Made To Be Like Her, on Illuminasty Records 7/7/2017. The two-piece comprised of multi-instrumentalists, Monika Khot and Wolcott Smith created the project after trading musical secrets and quickly decided to weave their furtive styles together creating new heavy, electronic-rock based landscapes. The music is dynamic in nature, lending itself to sonic focus and harnessing control of the mind. On their upcoming I Was Made To Be Like Her, Industrial harshness is flawlessly paired with ambient beauty all alongside the ever-pervasive feeling of torment.

Already garnering high acclaim in Seattle by KEXP and The Stranger, with the latter’s Dave Segal writing, “[I Was Made To Be Like Her] stands as one of the most distinctively tenebrous and beautiful rock records likely to come out of Seattle in 2017”, Zen Mother is entering a rarified territory within the Pacific Northwest that can only continue to expand.
