ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Kentucky singer/songwriters Mitch Barrett and Carla Gover comprise the duo Zoe Speaks.

Their recording "Pearl" hints at the traditional Appalachian music with which they were both raised but covers varied musical territory, with nods to contemporary acoustic, pop, and folk.

It features the artists themselves on guitars and clawhammer banjo, and they are helped by a host of America's best acoustic musicians, including Marcy Marxer, Ronnie and Ricky Simpkins, Chris Norman, Sally Van Meter, Ralph Gordon, and Bruce Molsky (who also produced the project).

The featured songs are the artists' own originals complemented with a few select covers by other Kentucky writers.

The content, emotion, and craftsmanship in these 12 songs render this recording a favorite of diverse age and interest groups.

This husband/wife duo's seemingly telepathic harmonies are a highlight of the entire project.

I have been looking for something new and different. This fit the bill. I am glad I came across the article on your music in a religious magazine. I hope Santa brings me another Zoe Speaks CD.

wonderful, simply wonderful : )
I loved the delivery of my CD! The e-mail confirmation they gave me was the best, and funniest part, so much so, that I read it to my mom. The CD, like the e-mail assured me, got here safe and sound. thanks : )

Every song is perfect!
I love this CD! I have left it in my car CD player for up to three months at a time, and for entire two-week vacations in two different rental cars. I just buy it again every time I leave it somewhere, knowing that whomever finds it will want to keep it and play it over and over too!

Very comfortable and easy to listen to.
I love this CD. The music is so true to its Kentucky roots. My family and my husband's family originated in the Appalachian area of Kentucky where music of this genre is so commonplace. I've heard many groups who sing this type of folk music, but none have grabbed my heart the way Zoe Speaks has. Love it!

A great CD. Bill Monroe would be proud to have these two carrying bluegrass into the 21st century.
