Album Notes
What do you see when you look in the MIRROR?? This is a tough rhetorical question I ask myself each and every day. As I ponder the answer in my mind, I focus on the fact that I truly love God, I’m saved, sanctified, holy ghost filled, fire baptized, a preacher’s wife, The Bishop’s daughter, a missionary, a mother, a choir director, a praise and worship leader, and the list goes on. These are all good, but my truth is, I don’t always like what I see when I look in the mirror. I see emotional SCARS from surviving molestation. I see SHAME from divorce and many bad decisions that caused humiliation. I see FLAWS that consume my thoughts, as I continually strive for perfection to balance it all and make a better me. Like most “church folks”, I have successfully learned how to mask my inadequacies so that people only see the good, and not the bad or the ugly.

This song comes to encourage every heart and mind, regardless of any negative reflections you may see. Psalm 139:14 says, “I will praise thee: for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Know that God has a great end in store for all of His children. When we look in the mirror, we must shift our focus from pain to purpose. At the end of the day, I want to see “the me” that God sees, and follow His ordained plan for my life. I rejoice in knowing that no matter what hurt I suffer from my past, I am a new creation, and the joy of the Lord sets me free. The potter is daily fixing this broken vessel, and making me whole again. I pray this song will minister to you in a unique way that helps you examine yourself, keep it 100, and let God do His perfect work. You have your own truth, so again I ask, what do you see when you look in the MIRROR?? Now, my answer is simple…Lord, I just wanna to see you!!
