Album Notes
Raised in St. Louis Missouri, a music town in it's own right, Josh developed his first love for music. At the age of eight he was introduced to violin which he studied for the next five years. About this time, Josh's interest in music drifted to rock'n roll. After unsatisfied gigs in several cover bands, Josh decided to write his own music. Inspired by the sounds of the east coast, Josh relocated to New Jersey where he continued to compose his melodies and lyrics.

This promising singer /songwriter/ musician expands his musical horizons with each original song he composes and records. Josh's lyrics are said to be truthful, surrounding life's challenges and quest for spiritual growth. His musical conviction and well articulated melodies are spirited and intriguing. Although he considers himself a musician, Josh remains mainly focused on strong songwriting and vocal harmonies. His love for music is not confined to just recording CD's. Josh also loves the stage and proves this by his charismatic stage presence that leaves his audience a lasting impression, enticing people to come back for more.

For two years Josh traveled with the international group "Up With People" and performed in many sold-out shows including over 40,000 people at the 1996 World Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia supporting Peabo Bryson as well as the 1998 World Expo, in Lisbon, Portugal supporting world legendary guitarist, B.B. King. He has traveled to over 15 different countries including the United States and Europe.

Josh and his previous group released their debut CD "Confessions" in 1994 and have been the opening acts for various recording artists including 80's famous rockers Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and Warrant.

Now with a brand new CD, "a totally new sensation", Josh has integrated his world life experiences to a fresh music style that is ready to explode the alternative pop markets.

His title track song " a totally new sensation" has been nominated for the 2002 OMA music awards for outstanding songwriter of the year as well included on the soundtrack recording for the film "know Parking". Josh has been written up in several of the popular local papers such as The Aquarian weekly and the Asbury Park Press and appeared as the musical guest on New Jersey 12 television.

With a new perspective and with many new songs Josh's brand new CD entitled " a totally new sensation" represents all.

Josh's motto: Be who you are ........ It's all about come and experience a totally new sensation with singer/songwriter/musician...........Josh Zuckerman

If you’re up for the ride, Zuckerman will give you a breathlessly wild one.
Boy, do I owe Josh Zuckerman an apology.

I took one look at the boyish pin-up good looks of this artist and thought, “Justin Timberlake.” I skimmed the liner notes, saw that he ends the CD with a cover of “The Devil Went Down To Georgia,” and fought back a howl of protest. I read in the bio that he’s a former member of Up With People and considered just setting fire to the whole packet and pretending I’d never seen it.

What happened when I finally played the CD was the musical equivalent of Zuckerman putting me in my place. Actually slamming me down into my seat and unleashing a tidal wave of hungry, aggressive, infectious, addictive pop/rock that pretty much trashed my apartment. No way will I be getting my deposit back.

Zuckerman’s sexy and soulful voice has a raw edge that keeps it from falling overboard into teenybopper territory. In fact, with his penchant for streaking the sexually explicit here and there, I’m not sure it’s safe for teenyboppers to wander into his territory without a chaperone. But if you’re up for the ride, Zuckerman will give you a breathlessly wild one.

You’ll want to learn these songs so you can sing along. In fact, if John Mellencamp ever hears “Been Thinkin,” he’ll want to cover it on his next album. Zuckerman is so filled with the spirit and energy of music that he fills the air with a wide range of instruments, including his own scorching violin playing. The title track is the first pop/rock song I’ve ever heard that has a trumpet, fluglehorn, and trombone solo. And there’s a sax in there, too. It’s a musical whirlwind that sounds so much fun, it will make you want to grab that harmonica you’ve been noodling around with and jump right in. Another standout is “Forgiveness,” in which a string section actually makes an easygoing rock beat sound haunting.

With song titles like “Karma,” “Spiritual,” and “Missing You,” I was expecting a lot of ballads. Zuckerman has other ideas. His takes a fresh approach to somber topics. Not only does the tempo keep me dancing in my seat, but he also has a knack for conjuring up cool, unconventional spiritual images. From “Karma”:

I’ve chosen forgiveness, and my now angels,
they’re jumping...
I’ve chosen L-O-V-E, and now my angels,
They’re jumping, jumping over my face,
Jumping, jumping over disgrace...

The closest Zuckerman gets to a ballad is the lovely “A Place That I Call Home,” which begins with several a cappella verses. That takes bravery and a voice that can stand up to that kind of scrutiny. Fortunately, Zuckerman has both. He also slows down a little on the mysterious, tribal, bass-driven “Just As Well,” another of my favorites.

And yes, I will say it right here, Zuckerman also has the fiddle chops and vocal credibility to blaze through “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” without sounding at all cheesy or karaoke-ish.

Now if you’ll excuse me, my dinner’s ready. I’m having crow.

His music comes from the heart and his sincerity is felt from start to finish.
Forget the overproduced sounds and techno waves that have defined music in our society and get ready for something new and original, a totally new sensation if you will. Charged with soul driving guitars and a countrified rock sound, singer/songwriter Josh Zuckerman resonates with a spirit that is a mixture of the best of Melissa Etheridge and Bruce Springsteen. Zuckerman’s album, A Totally New Sensation, is refreshingly new and original with both its lyrics and Zuckerman’s mind-boggling fiddle playing. One of the album’s most amazing tracks that showcases Zuckerman’s feverish fiddle playing is his cover of Charlie Daniels Band’s 1979 classic of The Devil Went Down To Georgia.
Zuckerman’s music isn’t your typical dance club bubble gum pop sound. Zuckerman seems untouched by the glitz and glamour of the music business. His music comes from the heart and his sincerity is felt from start to finish.

Summery modern rock in the Retro/Romantic vein.
A TOTALLY NEW SENSATION is an appropriately titled album of simply great songs. With an abundance of pop hooks in the modern rock vein, Josh Zuckerman shows off his terrific songwriting chops in a set that is a veritable textbook of modern rock production styles.

Top-quality seasoned musicianship is showcased (including excellent harmonies), but the STAR here is Zuckerman, a
strong vocalist with a unique and recognizeable vocal quality that is engaging and vulnerable with just enough rock rasp when required.

I could easily see this performer opening for down-to-earth but down-and-dirty Lisa Marie Presley. Their styles are complimentary.

Lyrically, romantic pre-occupation is the stuff of this genre, but Zuckerman infuses the songs with a Retro dose of Peace, Love and Happiness. The result is good time rock that allows the summery sounds of the Jersey shore into the tracks. HIGHLY Recommended.

Amazing CD, but go and see this guy live - WOW
I saw Josh perform live in NYC and he blew me the hell away. He has an amazing stage presence and energy about him. He owns the stage and really knows how to work the audience. Buy this CD, it is almost as exciting as Josh's live performance. Almost, but not quite.

Incredible Album from Talent Musician, Singer, Songwriter
Great album with no filler material. I met Josh recently and he is extremely nice and down to earth. Deserves to be a major star! The album has positive messages about life's little tricks and slip ups. The tracks have trumpets, violins, guitars, drums, organs, saxs, choirs and strings! Many layers to the music and even more layers in terms of the lyrics. He's spreading a positive message yet letting the listener know the road is not always smooth. The album is lots of fun and shows his sense of humor and also the serious side. The listener never gets bogged down but gets on the ride and can enjoy every minute until the last note of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." There is no risk in buying this album because it is worth it!!!
