Innovative, cinematic rock arrangements with soaring vocals and guitars. Hard to describe - harder to forget.

The sound of Manhattan Sleeps is a modern yet timeless blend of acoustic and electric, with an atmospheric splash of synths and exotic percussion. The lyrics are both introspective and outward looking - searching for spirituality without pretension or pat answers. Maya's vocals are warm and powerfully assured. Jeff's guitar playing and other instrumental work provide a solid foundation for Maya's voice.
The first cut, "Road to Jerusalem," was included on a Best Of anthology CD from Radio Nur. Both the album and the song were number one in their categories on MP3.com for several weeks.
This CD rewards repeated listening, both because of the quality of its presentation and the diversity of its songs, from the soft rock classic (or it should be) "Manhattan Sleeps" to the middle eastern sounds of the Baha'i oriented songs that round out the album. Sensitive, full-voiced singing, and skillful synth. And real soprano sax --- perfect here.
Beautiful!
"Manhattan Sleeps" is filled with strong and heartfelt songwriting, beautiful vocals, and captivating arrangements. I highly recommend this beautiful CD!
My favourite of the Bohnhoff CDs. Highly recommended!
MANHATTAN SLEEPS has always been my favorite of the Bohnhoff CDs. Some really strong songwriting here, with impressive vocals and instrumentals. I've listened to this album hundreds of times and enjoy it as much as I did the first time. "Manhattan Sleeps" always makes me teary-eyed; its lyrics and melody are incredibly beautiful and moving. My personal favourite is "Road To Jerusalem," but I reserve the right to change my mind after I listen to the CD a hundred more times. HIGHLY recommended.
Light Jazz
This made me think more of light jazz.
